One last aqua yoga class of the season 💦

Tomorrow is looking like perfect pool weather: 72 degrees and sunny at 11 a.m. at Mosher Park Pool.

Class is $15. If you’re planning to come, drop a comment below so I have enough noodles for everyone.

Bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and anything else that helps you feel comfortable in the sun.

I’ve loved spending the summer with you all in the pool, whether this is your first season or your fifth. Hope to see you in the water one more time!

Tomorrow’s Aqua Yoga class is canceled — 70 degrees with rain doesn’t exactly sound like a good pool day.

I hate to do it, but I don’t want to keep your plans in limbo.
Stay safe out there, and I hope to see you next week.

If you’ve taken my class, you’ve probably heard me say this more than once:
You are the expert on your body.

That doesn’t mean you need to know everything. It just means your body’s feedback matters.

You’re allowed to pause.
You’re allowed to say no to a pose.
You’re allowed to use the wall, a chair, a block, or a different variation.
You’re allowed to decide that something doesn’t feel supportive.

That’s not failing the practice.
That is the practice.

If you’re learning this too, you’re in good company.
Save this for the next time you need the reminder.

One of the biggest reasons I changed how I teach was simple:
I would go to yoga class and leave in more pain than when I arrived.

And the default option I was always given? Child’s pose.
But child’s pose was not restful for my body. With arthritis in my knees, it was the opposite.

That experience taught me something important: many teachers are offering what they were taught, not necessarily what works for the bodies in front of them.

And that’s a big reason I teach the way I do now.
Because there is no one default option that works for everybody.
Because “rest” has to actually feel supportive.
Because yoga should not ask you to ignore your body to belong.

If you’ve ever felt worse after yoga or felt that the only option you were given didn’t fit your body, you’re not alone.
