Magaziner spoke to our residents and staff about the issues facing older Rhode Islanders, including funding for Social Security, Medicare reimbursements, supporting family caregivers, and making sure our health care workers are safe and supported.

Last week, a team of Heathers Garden staff and volunteers had the privilege to join a bocce ball tournament celebrating the new court at the Johnston Senior Center.

While we weren't able to make the final round at the Senior Center, we had a blast competing and making new friends during the main tournament at the Citizens campus in Johnston.

Thank you to Citizens, Morgan Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Cherry Hill Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Johnston Senior Center for hosting this amazing event!

Our residents celebrated National Assisted Living Week in style last week.

We shared plenty of laughs, played games, and even had some new experiences (Life Enrichment Coordinator Alex Rivera tried apple c***r for the first time!)

We recently welcomed past and present members of our Board of Directors, as well as other special guests, for an important event.

For nearly a century, Heather Gardens operated as Scandinavian Communities. Last week, we unveiled a new permanent courtyard sculpture, created by local artist Whitmore Boogaerts, which honors our Scandinavian heritage.

CEO Joan Kwiatkowski, Board Chair Danielle Kopf, and former Scandinavian Communities Board Chair Wayne Kezirian shared warm reflections about our years of impact in Cranston and looked forward to our continued service as Heather Gardens.

It was a joy to celebrate our End of Summer Party with our residents’ families and community partners.

Today’s menu captured the flavors of a classic Rhode Island summer: lobster rolls, stuffies, Saugy dogs, clam cakes, clam chowder, and more!

And special thanks goes to our musical guests, Frank and Al, for providing the perfect soundtrack to a wonderful afternoon.
