It was a joy to celebrate our End of Summer Party with our residents’ families and community partners.

Today’s menu captured the flavors of a classic Rhode Island summer: lobster rolls, stuffies, Saugy dogs, clam cakes, clam chowder, and more!

And special thanks goes to our musical guests, Frank and Al, for providing the perfect soundtrack to a wonderful afternoon.

One of the many things that residents love about Heather Gardens is that there are so many exciting activities to do!

This week, our residents filled plastic vases with colored sand to decorate their rooms or give as gifts to loved ones.

What kind of crafts should we do next?

Our residents and staff had a blast at this week's Beach Celebration! We dressed up in straw hats, sunglasses and leis to celebrate the summer.

Special thanks goes to our fantastic dining team. Here were some of the highlights:

-A delicious summer lunch
-Custom mocktails to order
-Jell-O desserts featuring sunbathing gummy bears
-Our very own "ice cream truck" (a cart full of frozen treats that made its way around the dining room, while a classic ice truck jingle played over the speakers)

We're proud to share some recent renovations at Heather Gardens that have made our residents' quality of life even better.

Here's the new carpet we rolled out into the dining room, switching from a faded tan to a deep blue for a more welcoming feel!

We're grateful to be next door to the William Hall Library, Cranston Public Library and all the great programming the library has to offer.

Recently, we spent a beautiful evening taking in tunes on the library lawn. Thank you to The Driftwoods for their amazing renditions of classic hits from The Beach Boys—our residents definitely felt "Good Vibrations" from the set!

Concerts on the library lawn are one of the highlights of summer in Cranston. We're looking forward to stopping by again soon!

One of the perks of being in the beautiful Edgewood neighborhood of Cranston is all the wonderful things to do nearby.

Just a mile away is the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University. On a recent visit, our residents learned about local culinary history and admired artifacts that brought back memories—does anyone else remember when Mr. Potato Head statues appeared across the state?

Margie (in the second photo) posed in front of the old Ever Ready Diner. She has fond memories of having lunch with her husband in its original Admiral Street location in the early years of their marriage.

We ended the visits with some complimentary strawberry oat bars and tea. Thank you again for JWU for hosting us—and even welcoming us back the next day for the folks who weren’t able to make the original outing!

Two of our wonderful residents, Madeline and Margie, recently celebrated their birthdays!

This week, we brought them out to a special birthday lunch at Gregg's Restaurants and Taverns to celebrate together. They had the the best time and gave the food glowing reviews (especially the dessert!)

Happy Birthday, Madeline and Margie!
