Anyone else’s summer sleep schedule completely feral at this point?
Between late nights, sleeping in, camping, summer cabins, and traveling time zones, the kids somehow survived on a bedtime that would have horrified me in May…
Some kids already went back this week or last, and some of us still have until after Labor Day to pretend we have plenty of time to get our lives together.
Either way, now’s a pretty good time to start nudging those summer sleep routines back toward something resembling normal.
Around here, our nighttime lineup looks a little something like this:
Magnesium Butter + Magnesium Spray: magnesium is involved in normal muscle and nerve function, which is one of the reasons we love making it part of the nighttime routine. Rub the butter into tired legs, feet, shoulders or wherever you’ve been carrying the day, or grab the spray when you want the quick, no-fuss version.
And ladies—don’t forget about these two when your period rolls around. A warm bath + Magnesium Butter or Spray massaged into your lower belly, back or tired, crampy muscles makes for one heck of a comforting nighttime ritual.
Lofty Dreams: this is our tincture for when your body is exhausted but your brain apparently has other plans. Here’s what’s inside that little dropper bottle of 💤’s.
🌿 California poppy - Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz can tell you…this is one sleepy little plant. Used for promoting sleep and relaxation.
🌿 Catnip - yes, catnip. And no, you don’t have to be a cat. Used as a gentle calming herb, especially when the nervous system feels agitated.
🌿 Hawthorn berries - Antioxidant-rich berries with a long history of use as a heart-supportive herb, both physically, energetically and emotionally.
🌿 Wood betony - Useful when tension and a busy mind are getting in the way of settling down.
🌿 Chamomile - Used for relaxation, occasional digestive upset, and winding down before sleep.
Getting back into a sleep rhythm isn’t about one or two magical products. It’s giving our bodies the same little cues, night after night that we’re done for the day.
Because 6:00am is coming whether we’re ready for it or not.
