🐾 Puppies, Kitties, and Whole Lot of Heart 🐾
If you’ve ever wondered what a yoga class looks like when you add a dozen playful paws and wet noses into the mix… well, it looks a lot like pure chaos and a whole lot of joy!

The last couple weeks, I’ve had the absolute privilege of hosting Puppy Yoga over at Scruffy Tails Humane Society, as well as a Kitty Yoga session right here at the Burnham Creek studio. I want to share a little behind-the-scenes look at why these events mean so much to me.

First things first: I do these events purely as a volunteer. Honestly, it’s a win-win situation. I get to use my skills to help raise awareness and funds for animals in need, and (totally selfishly) I get to spend an hour hanging out with the absolute cutest little friends.

Let’s be real...these are not your typical yoga classes. You might not leave feeling deeply zen, perfectly aligned, or deeply meditated. But you will leave with a massive smile on your face and a heart that feels completely full.

Beyond the fundraising, these sessions do something so important for the animals. It creates a safe, gentle environment for these cats and dogs to realize that humans are safe, kind, and good to be around. It’s all about connection, socialization, and preparing them for their forever homes.

I am just so incredibly grateful to be of service in this way. Bringing together our local animal advocates and our yoga community. Thank you to everyone who came out, rolled out a mat, and shared some love with these sweet souls!

Check out some of the magic from our recent classes below! ❤️🐈🐕

Good morning 🌞 it's time for a vulnerable share from this week's dharma talk ✨🧘‍♀️

I want to share a story with you about 👁️ perspective. Recently, I had the opportunity to bring my art to an exhibit. Another artist, who is an incredibly talented artist, asked me to transport his piece as well. When I delivered the artwork, the coordinator saw his piece and immediately fell in love with it, fawning over it, pouring out WELL-deserved praise. Because it truly is a AMAZING artwork.

But when it came time to look at my piece... she picked it up upside down. She looked at it from a completely upside down perspective, gave a polite, This is nice, and set it aside.

At that exact moment, I felt a physical shift. I became quiet. I felt myself closing off, shrinking a bit. The sting of feeling misunderstood, or less than, crept in. My ego was bruised to say the least.

We all know this feeling. It’s the tight contraction in the chest or the heavy sinking in the stomach when we feel unseen. In life, we will inevitably encounter moments where people look at us, our work, our intentions, or our lives... completely upside down. They are looking through their own lens, their own unique perspective, and they might totally miss what we see or what we’ve created.

The ego’s immediate reaction is to fight back, to defend, or to retreat into a shell. We want to force them to see it right side up. We want to yell, 'No, look closer! You’re holding it wrong!'

But true peace doesn't come from forcing someone else to change their orientation. It comes from accepting the experience with deep understanding rather than forcefulness. It's the practice of acknowledging the sting. Allowing it to be there without judgment and then softly letting it go.

On the mat, we explore perspective. We might physically turn ourselves upside down in our practice. When we shift our view, how do we react to the discomfort? Can we meet the tight spaces in our bodies with understanding instead of force? Can we let our practice be an offering to ourselves, validated from within, rather than looking outside for approval?

Notice where you are gripping, where your ego wants to force a pose to look a certain way, or where you feel misunderstood by your own body. Practice meeting those moments with a soft breath. Acknowledge it, breathe into it, and let it go. You know your truth. 🌱

As we transition into the warmth and fullness of summer, and our weekly classes wrapping up soon. I have been doing a lot of reflecting on what it means to truly live in alignment. Summer calls us to expand, but it also invites us to slow down, be present, and soak in the sun with the ones we love most.

☀️ With that in mind, I have made the heartfelt decision to cancel the Upcoming Monday evenings yoga summer "5 element" series that was scheduled to begin on July 13th. ☀️

While I was so looking forward to diving into the elements with you, the universe is reminding me to PRACTICE WHAT I TEACH 🧘‍♀️ to listen to my own rhythm and protect my energy. Right now, my soul is calling for a bit of a break to prioritize family time, rest, and simply enjoy these fleeting summer months on the farm with my husband and kiddos. To the lovely souls who already registered thank you so much for your support, and I will be reaching out to you directly regarding a full refund!

🌱☀️ How we can still stay connected this summer:

I am still fully committed to staying connected and keeping our community's energy vibrant. While our Monday and Saturday classes will be on pause, I will still be hosting our special summer events, and you can catch me every other Thursday 6:30 PM at Queen City Art Center for hatha-yin yoga classes

🍂Looking Ahead to Fall:

Don't worry, these doors will be open and ready for you again soon. Our regular Monday and Saturday classes will fully resume in September, fresh and ready for a brand-new season together.

THANK YOU 🙏 all so much for your understanding, your endless grace, and your support of my journey as a teacher and a business owner. It truly is sore to make this change, I never want to let anybody down. I hope you all take some time this summer to rest, play, and fill your own cups.

Beautiful evening at Burnham Creek ☀️ thank you ladies for a wonderful class!
