NOT ALL PEMF IS CREATED EQUAL

There are a lot of PEMF systems on the market. So why did I choose the MAS Special Multi?

Because I wanted more than a mat with a handful of preset programs. I wanted a system that gave me control over frequency, waveform, intensity and time.

The MAS offers a broad frequency range from 1–9,999 Hz, multiple waveforms—including sine, rectangular, sawtooth and triangle—and the ability to create individualized settings.

Why does that matter?

Because frequency is only part of the signal. How it is delivered matters too.

For example, when someone is dealing with anxiety, feeling overstimulated or experiencing disrupted sleep, I may choose a very low-intensity setting in the 1 Hz or 15 Hz range with the intention of supporting relaxation and a calmer nervous-system state.

A different goal may call for a completely different approach.

And more intensity isn't necessarily better. I often prefer lower frequencies and lower intensities, depending on what I am trying to accomplish.

That's why I chose MAS.

I didn't just want a PEMF mat. I wanted a frequency instrument—one that gives me the flexibility to individualize the therapy.

When was the last time you heard a massage therapist say, “Muscles don’t matter”?

That may sound like a ridiculous statement—but stay with me.

Muscles matter. They just aren’t running the entire show.

Your nervous system decides how much protection your body needs.

It influences pain, muscle tension, guarding and how freely you can move.

That is why repeatedly rubbing, stretching or treating a “tight” muscle may provide temporary relief—only for the same pain and tension to return.

At Healing Touch Therapeutic Massage, the goal is not simply to loosen a muscle, that ends up being a byproduct of the work.

Using precise manual contact and specific guided movement, RAPID NeuroFascial Reset provides focused sensory information to the nervous system.

That new input may help change the protective response contributing to pain and restricted movement.

This is not a traditional massage:
You remain comfortably clothed.
Treatment is specific and results-focused.
Movement is part of the process.
Progress is evaluated during the session.
The work can feel a little “spicy”.

If you are tired of temporarily calming the same tight muscle—and ready to look at pain differently—it may be time for a different kind of manual therapy.

Call Healing Touch Therapeutic Massage to schedule your initial assessment and treatment.

Behind Healing Touch Therapeutic Massage is someone who has never been very good at accepting, “That’s just the way it is.”

When a person is still hurting after trying everything, the question becomes: What might have been missed?

When an unfamiliar therapy shows promise, the question becomes: How does it work, what does the evidence show, and how could it be used responsibly?

And when clinical experience raises a question that research has not fully answered, the response is to keep digging—carefully separating what is known, what is possible and what still needs to be proven.

That curiosity has shaped Healing Touch into something far beyond traditional massage. It is a place for corrective pain work, advanced manual therapy, frequency-based technologies and a different way of looking at problems that have not responded to the usual approaches.

But beneath all of it is one guiding principle: responsibility.

When knowledge, experience or a new possibility may help someone, there is a responsibility to follow the question—and to get what is useful into the hands of the people who need it.

That is the heart behind Healing Touch Therapeutic Massage.

I’ve tried everything…

Sometimes where you hurt is not where the problem began.

Sometimes tightness is the body protecting you—not the actual problem.

And sometimes repeatedly treating the same painful area only gives the nervous system more of the same information.

Pain is an output of the nervous system—a response based on the information it is receiving.

So if we want the body to produce a different response, we have to give the nervous system a different kind of input.

A different approach going in.
Different results coming out.

THROWBACK QUESTION…

What’s something you used to do as a kid that you would LOVE to go back and do again?

No responsibilities. No grown-up rules. Just one more chance to be a kid.

What are you doing? 😄

Fibromyalgia & Near Infrared — Promising Research Is Emerging

Fibromyalgia pain is complicated. It isn't simply sore muscles. Changes in pain processing, nervous system sensitivity, sleep, fatigue and cellular function can all be part of the picture.

That's why emerging research into Near Infrared (NIR) photobiomodulation is worth paying attention to.

Studies involving people with fibromyalgia have reported promising findings, including:

• Reduced pain
• Improved pressure-pain thresholds — meaning less sensitivity to pressure
• Reduced stiffness
• Improvements in fatigue
• Improved quality-of-life measures

Some research has even demonstrated measurable changes in pain sensitivity at areas commonly problematic with fibromyalgia, including the occiput, neck and trapezius.

What makes NIR particularly interesting is that we're not simply talking about warming sore muscles. Near infrared wavelengths interact with tissue and are being investigated for their effects on mitochondrial function, cellular energy production, circulation, inflammatory signaling and pain modulation.

There is still much to learn. Fibromyalgia is complex, and NIR is not a cure.

But for people living with chronic widespread pain and heightened sensitivity — especially those who sometimes find hands-on treatment uncomfortable — the growing research around this gentle, non-invasive therapy is encouraging.

Near Infrared therapy is available at Healing Touch as another option for supporting people dealing with persistent pain.

Fibromyalgia + NIR? The research is getting interesting.

Breast care? Yes, that’s available here.

It’s one of the lesser-known areas of care offered at Healing Touch—and there are several reasons women may benefit from it.

After Breast Surgery

Lumpectomy, mastectomy, reconstruction, augmentation or reduction can leave behind swelling, tenderness, scar tissue and restrictions. Post-operative care focuses on supporting the tissues as the body heals and helping restore comfortable movement.

For Breastfeeding Moms

Engorgement, swelling, tenderness and stubborn areas of fullness can be miserable. Gentle manual and supportive therapies can help encourage movement of fluid, reduce tissue congestion and improve comfort.

Breast Maintenance

No surgery. No breastfeeding. No current problem required. Breast tissue changes throughout life, and regular care can support tissue mobility, circulation and lymphatic movement.

Breast health gets plenty of attention when something goes wrong.
There’s value in caring for the tissue along the way, too.
