This chapter of my life has been a little bit like the mountains I’ve been climbing. There are ascents and descents, and neither lasts forever.
Some days you feel strong and like you could keep going forever. Other days you slip on a rock, land on your ass, mumble “f**k,” and get back up.
And then there are the moments when you stop, look around, and take it all in.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked around and said to Lulu, “How lucky are we that we get to live here?”
But there’s also a lot behind the pretty pictures that you don’t see.
There’ve been moments of, “WTH are you doing?” Grief for an old life and a future I once imagined. Ugly crying. Letting go of things that no longer serve me—and realizing some things were never mine to carry in the first place.
There’s also been so much joy. Adventure. Growth. Trusting. Remembering what excites me and doing more of it.
I’m slowing down. Staying present. And realizing there’s beauty in that, too.
I don’t have everything figured out. I’m still somewhere on the trail.
But I’m grateful to be exactly where I am.
For the grief. The joy. The fear. The mess. The adventure. The beauty.
Grateful for all of it.
