The feedback I get most often from the families that I work with and one quality that I try to infuse into all of my work is a calming presence. Although I can't guarantee that your birth will look exactly as you're dreaming, I can be there with you through it all. When you feel scared, overwhelmed, or unsure, I'm right there, helping you feel seen, heard and deeply cared for.

There is a substantial body of research (in psychology and neuroscience) suggesting that a calm, trusted, steady presence can make frightening or stressful situations feel less threatening. Doulas are science 😉

My support extends far beyond knowing comfort measures or understanding birth. It often looks like:
- text messages at midnight,
- reminding you to breathe and soften when things feel intense,
- helping you sort through your options without judgment.
- sitting beside you and holding your hand when plans change.
- making sure you feel heard, supported, and not alone.

Every birth and every mother are different and I believe every woman deserves to feel cared for as they navigate one of the most vulnerable and transformative days of their life.

It's been a week. The kind that settles into your bones. It has me thinking of how much birth is a metaphor for life: The way out is through. A baby cannot avoid the birth canal. The mother cannot go around her contractions. And at the end of it all is a miraculous transformation. In birth and in life, there is beauty and joy waiting on the other side of discomfort and pain.

It has been a summer full of babies! I still have some availability at the end of the year. If you are thinking about having a doula support you during labor, let's talk!

"It’s reassuring to know that night nursing at this stage is age-appropriate, not the sign of faulty parenting or a sleep disorder."

This 2024 study describes what’s normal for night-waking in breastfeeding babies 5 to 12 months old. Not surprisingly, 97% woke and nursed at least once during the night. It’s reassuring to know that night nursing at this stage is age-appropriate, not the sign of faulty parenting or a sleep disorder. I'm a little bit enamoured by the moon on birth nights. This one was particularly full and beautiful, but impossible to capture.

Beautiful new family, beautiful ancient sky - doula heart full ❤️

To all of my midwives - I wouldn't be who I am today, without you! Thank you for making birth a human experience, for listening to us and for always going the extra mile for the moms and babies who rely on you (all with a sense of humor). I'm celebrating you today 🪇👏🎉

🤰🏽🌍 International Day of the Midwife ~ 5 May 2026 ~ Today we recognise the impact of midwives across the world. 🌍🤰🏾

Midwifery models of care are not just a “nice to have”, they are evidence-based, life-changing, and crucial to improving outcomes for families and children all around the world.

Midwives are associated with:
✨ Improved birth outcomes
👶🏽 Reduced risk of preterm birth
⁉️ Fewer unnecessary interventions
🏡 Improved health and wellbeing for families
💡 More personalised, informed decision-making
📈 Increased confidence, satisfaction, and empowerment
(WHO, 2026)

✨At their core, midwives do more than provide care.

They build relationships.
They advocate.
They improve safety.
They improve outcomes at both an individual and global level and when midwives are supported, communities are stronger.

Midwives care 🌍 Communities thrive
