Preventable injuries are the leading cause of death & disability for children 1 to 18 years (and adults to 44yo). And for every child that dies, there are thousands more that require medical care for their injuries.
The first ever US National Injury Prevention Day is on Wednesday, November 18th
It is led by the Injury Free Coalition for Kids in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Trauma Society, the Trauma Center Association of America, and injury control centers, major children’s hospitals, and community partners across the country.
As parents ,this topic impacts your families.
My ask… PLEASE remind those in your life about the importance of injury prevention.
And please take the time to…

- Remind your teens that seat belts are the rule and distracted driving is never allowed - https://www.nhtsa.gov/road-safety/teen-driving
- Evaluate if all fi****ms in your home and in the homes your child might visit are properly secured - https://besmartforkids.org/
- Make sure you’ve educated the new parents in your life about the importance of safe sleep - https://www.charlieskids.org/
- Ensure your pool is as secure as possible from your young kids - http://aap.org/drowning
- Store all of your medicines, cleaning products, button batteries, and hand sanitizer out of the reach of curious hands - https://www.upandaway.org/
