I am thrilled to make a significant announcement after a three-year hiatus, which included a cross-country move, building a home, and navigating life's challenges. I am excited to share that I am returning to something I am truly passionate about, which has been a pivotal aspect of my life – conducting classical Hatha yoga classes.

As many of you know, we have established our base in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, where I will be operating my private studio, Nadhi Yoga.

You might be wondering about the name Nadhi. Nadhi, meaning river.

Rivers held profound importance for early civilizations that thrived along their banks. Across various native cultures, rivers symbolize cleansing and purification, abundance and harvest, change, and the constant flow of life's journey. Personally, being close to a water body brings a sense of calm and stability for me. With 72% of our bodies being water, the proximity to water resonates with the yogic experience of union.

Hence, the name of my yoga offering had to be Nadhi.

I will be collaborating with teachers in Georgia to bring classical Isha Hatha Yoga practices to you. These typically involve weekend workshops where we delve deeply into specific sequences. My goal is to transform the studio into a regular practice space, offering frequent sessions for both adults and children.

Hope you are keeping safe in the strange COVID times we live in. Almost all events and classes have moved online and in that spirit, I have decided to offer my first online workshop for adults + teens.

For just $60, anyone can learn simple practices from the convenience of home. We will have a community to support you with 3 free review sessions.

Brunch - 100% barnyard millet idli (with carrots and peas added for texture and nutrition). The red chutney is sweet pepper & urad dal, the green chutney is coconut & cilantro.

Barnyard millet, also known as kuthiravali in Tamizh, is a low GI food that’s very good for general health and esp diabetics. It’s a great substitute for polished white rice (though am all for unpolished traditional rice varieties). Low calorie, high fiber/iron food.

this is made following traditional rava idli recipe but the white rava that we use for upma, halwa /kesari, idli/dosa is highly unhealthy! it’s stripped of every nutrition and is as good (or bad) as maida. Don’t let bloggers fool you with their captions of ‘tasty, healthy rava upma’. major eyeroll.

During our hatha yoga teachers training program, we were fed a lot of millets because these keep your system in a good state for sadhana. So I have continued to include millets in our diet.

Keeping up your sadhana at these challenging times is vital. Surya Kriya is a practice that I find tremendous balance. Just one cycle helps me feel calmer, clear headed and grounded in truth. I have added Surya Namaskar to my daily routine. So it’s 3 cycles of Surya Kriya which is slow and steady and anywhere betweeen 12-24 cycles of surya Namaskar which takes a shorter amount of time.

In the yogic system, it’s said that increasing Samath Prana in the system increases your immunity. And the surya Kriya/surya namaskar/surya shakti practices do just that.

The Isha Surya Kriya & Surya Shakti practices have to be learned in a committed atmosphere from a trained Isha Hatha Yoga teacher who checks and fine tunes every little detail in your practice so you are fully equipped to do it on your own anytime anywhere.

With the lockdown it maybe hard. Fear not! We have some simple sadhana to increase lung capacity that you can learn online. See comments.

The strongest form of resistance for our generation needs to be to ask ourself - “do I need this? Does my loved one really need this? Am I doing this/buying this because it makes me feel ‘cool’ and have ‘status’ or is this actually going to enhance life in a meaningful way?”

If we asked these questions, we would realize clean water is a necessity while aerated drinks are just marketing BS.
