Sixty+ Saturday: Know Your Numbers. Know Your Legacy.

Last year, functional medicine blood work uncovered something I didn’t know about my heart health.

This year, I learned that my younger biological half-brother, whom I never met, died of a heart attack.

It made knowing my numbers and understanding my family history feel even more important.

But legacy isn’t only about what we inherit.

It’s also about how we choose to live, what matters to us, and what we leave behind.

For me, aging well is about taking care of my health so I can keep living with purpose and creating the legacy I want to leave.

Watch this week’s Sixty+ Saturday: Know Your Numbers. Know Your Legacy.

Age. Remodel. Thrive.

Thriving Thursday: Going Deeper — Step 1: Inspect

What if the thing you keep trying to change isn’t really the whole problem?

Sometimes we get off track, reset, and try again.

But when the same patterns keep showing up, there may be something deeper worth noticing.

This week on Thriving Thursday, we’re starting a new Going Deeper series with the first step in remodeling an old pattern:

INSPECT. 🔎

Before we remodel, we need to understand what’s really going on underneath.

Watch this week’s video to get started.

This made my day! 💛

I shared HeartMath biofeedback for Meditation Monday this week, and then someone sent me this photo.

Her HeartMath device is sitting right on a highlighted section of Remodel Your Brain where I talk about coherence and training our nervous system.

I love seeing the tools from my book being put into practice in real life.

Because Remodel Your Brain isn’t just about understanding how your brain and nervous system work.

It’s about practicing the tools that can help us regulate, recharge, and build the patterns we want to strengthen.

And seeing this in action is pretty special. 💛

Meditation Monday: Breathe. Watch. Regulate.

What if you could actually watch your nervous system respond to your breath?

This Meditation Monday, I’m using HeartMath biofeedback to practice slow, paced breathing while watching how my heart rhythm responds in real time.

The goal isn’t to get a perfect score or force yourself to relax. It’s about practicing regulation, noticing what changes, and appreciating what your body is capable of doing.

Breathe. Watch. Regulate. Appreciate.

Sometimes seeing the shift helps us trust the practice.

Tomorrow we celebrate 29 years of marriage. ❤️

I still remember when I first started dating my husband . There was a feeling I had in my solar plexus, deep in my gut. It wasn’t butterflies or nervous excitement. It felt more like a warm, cozy fall day. Safe. Comfortable. Like I could exhale and just be myself.

Twenty-nine years later, that feeling is still there.

Of course, we’ve changed a lot over the years. We’ve raised two beautiful daughters, built a life together, weathered hard seasons, celebrated incredible ones, and created traditions that continue to bring us back to each other.

I think one of the things I appreciate most about us is that we’re still building. We’re still figuring out what we want this next chapter of our lives to look and feel like. More beauty. More calm. More time together. More of the people, places, animals, adventures and little traditions that make life feel like ours.

Our marriage isn’t just part of my life story. It’s something we’ve created together for 29 years.

And underneath all of it, I can still find that same warm, cozy feeling I felt when we first started dating.

Happy 29th Anniversary to us. ❤️

Thriving Thursday: Thrive & Try Again

Fell off track with a goal? That doesn’t mean you failed.

In today’s Thriving Thursday, I’m sharing a simple way to reset, get curious about what got in the way, and figure out your next small step using MART.

Because lasting change isn’t about doing it perfectly. It’s about learning how to come back, adjust, and try again.

I’m so grateful to be back out on the trails today after pulling my hamstring and hurting my knee on Sunday.

Being a walking therapist is definitely harder when you’re injured, but I’ve learned to listen to my body while staying present with my client.

Today, my client and I looked up at these beautiful clouds and my client noticed how calming it felt.

I love moments like this. Sometimes it’s the clouds, a bird, a deer or just the sky.

Sometimes we walk and talk. Sometimes we stop, find a Brainspot and notice, while staying connected to what’s coming up in the body.

We can tune into the fear or panic underneath the worry while also staying connected to our body and the environment around us.

Movement, mindfulness, nature and Brainspotting all become part of the process.

This is why I love doing Walk & Talk Brainspotting Therapy on the trails , , , ,

Best Self Touch & Reset

Sometimes a reset doesn’t have to be complicated.

This is a simple practice I use before or after movement, when I’m feeling stressed or tired, or when I want to reconnect with my body.

Firm, comfortable touch combined with slow breathing gives the brain clear sensory information about the body. In a nutshell, that predictable sensory input can feel grounding and help shift the nervous system toward a calmer, more regulated state.

For the leg brush, slowly brush your hands from your hip down the front and back of your leg as you exhale, finishing with gentle pressure around your foot.

If tight hamstrings or your lower back make reaching toward your feet uncomfortable, simply elevate one foot on a chair and brush the elevated leg. There’s no benefit to forcing the position.

Listen to your body. Touch should feel comfortable, not painful.

Funny timing — I filmed this on Friday, and now I’m using this same practice to give my recently injured leg some gentle sensory input and encourage circulation while I recover.

Touch. Breathe. Reset.

I’m feeling especially grateful for our firefighters today.

Yesterday, a fire broke out on my Walk & Talk trails at Rancho, in an area that isn’t easy to reach. Within about two hours, firefighters had the flames extinguished and stopped the fire from spreading.

With our dry hills and those afternoon Bay Area breezes, things can change so quickly. It was reassuring to see how prepared they were and how fast they responded.

So grateful for the firefighters who protect these beautiful open spaces, our wildlife, and the communities around them. Thank you for the work you do. ❤️
