An old ankle sprain can keep changing how you stand, even after the pain is gone.
A posture guide describes someone who badly sprained their left ankle as a teenager. Afterward, their body shifted weight to the right, away from the injured side.
Over time, that pattern can load the right side more heavily. The guide connects it with a raised right hip, a lowered right shoulder, and possible pain in the right low back or knee.
That example is a useful reminder: where discomfort shows up may not be where a movement pattern began. The body can adapt around an old injury, and the adaptation may remain after the original pain has faded.
Posture is part of how we manage our center of gravity. Being able to shift weight from side to side matters, too.
