It is named for William Zickefoose, a foremost expert in the field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy for nearly 60 years and the founder of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM). He also was the creator of the Zickefoose Lip Exerciser (ZLE). The Zickefoose Lip Exerciser (ZLE) is the ONLY lip exerciser I use and I
have used if for years. For years, I ordered these by the hundreds from Bill and his wife, Julie. Unfortunately, he died in 2015. At first, it was thought Bill’s older brother would take over but in 2017, his widow, Julie Zickefoose, asked me to take over which was the last thing I wanted to do but I was desperately needing more of them! Julie wrote this letter to the IAOM in 2017…
Dear Members of the IAOM:
After much deliberation, I have decided I can no longer produce or sell Bill’s creation, the Zickefoose Lip Exerciser. The only person that Bill would trust to continue his legacy is Honor Franklin and I have asked Honor to take this on. Although this is not something she wants to do, she has graciously agreed for the sake of preserving Bill’s legacy. I have transferred both my personal interest and that of OMT Materials, the design, pending patent, rights and materials to Honor Franklin of Honor Franklin Myofunctional and Speech Clinic. I, along with Bill’s family, are so pleased Honor will be carrying on the legacy of William Zickefoose in creating and marketing the Zickefoose Lip Exerciser.
