𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐲,
“𝐌𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐦 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧.
She was giving, and not just as a mother,
but as a friend, partner, family member, and co-worker.
And she never took the easy way out.
She admitted when she was wrong, she listened, and she didn’t care about anyone else’s opinions of what kind of parent she was. She parented with only our hearts in mind.
And when life gave her or the people she loved challenges, she fought hard.
𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭.
She struggled with her mental health at times.
She lost it,
she made so many mistakes,
and we saw her cry because she didn’t believe in pushing her feelings down and ignoring them.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭.
To always try again and put one foot in front of the other and carry on.
And if someone reaches out to help, not to push them away.
It’s okay to let them join you in the pain, walk with you,
so you aren't alone.
She did that for us by holding our hands, lamenting over ice cream, and processing everything together.
We never felt alone.
𝗪𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡, 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.”
