Dietitians when: clients hit their fiber goals/ ignore uneducated influencers/ consume fruit without being scared of sugar/ recognizes thinness does not equal health / the list goes on!!! Also, I love these 🍑

🥗 The easiest Mediterranean-inspired salad!

Start with your favorite lettuce and pile on:
🍅 Tomatoes
🥒 Cucumbers
🫘 Chickpeas
🫒 Kalamata olives
🌶️ Radishes
🥛 Greek yogurt–based dressing

As a registered dietitian, I love this combination because it gives you fiber from the veggies and chickpeas, healthy fats from the olives, and extra protein from the Greek yogurt dressing. Serve as a side or throw some grilled chicken on top to make it a meal.

Simple, colorful, satisfying, and no complicated meal prep required! 🙌 Also, I am trying desperately to get more 🫘 into my daily routine!!

Dietitians = the nutrition experts! No weekend course or certification here. Dietitians have degrees in nutrition sciences, complete 1200 supervised internships, pass national boards , and complete continuing education 💁‍♀️. For credible nutrition information, look for “RD” or “RDN” in the name! Also, I still miss this show dearly…..

Here’s a polished Instagram caption:

Before you reach for expensive gut health supplements, start with what’s on your plate. 🌱 As a registered dietitian, these are my top 5 foods for supporting a healthy gut:

🥣 Yogurt: Contains live, active cultures that can help support a healthy gut microbiome.
🍌 Bananas: Rich in prebiotic fiber that feeds your beneficial gut bacteria.
🥑 Avocados: Packed with fiber and healthy fats that support microbial diversity.
🥬 Leafy greens: Provide fiber and plant compounds that nourish your gut.
🫘 Lentils & beans: One of the best sources of prebiotic fiber to fuel beneficial bacteria.

The key to a healthy gut isn’t one “superfood”, it’s consistently eating a variety of fiber-rich foods.

💚 Your gut bugs will thank you!

Oh hey live tv. It’s been a minute! Thank you WFAA Dallas ABC affiliate for the opportunity to chat all things protein.

Protein chips, protein ice cream, protein coffee?! Ok, let’s calm down here. Protein is so important but think quality over quantity.

On a GLP1?
Gal of a certain age? (Perimenopause/ menopause)
Older adult?
Body building?
Extra protein is for you! Meet with a registered dietitian for a personalized, evidence based recommendation. Don’t forget to spread out your protein intake throughout the day!

Cheers to healthy aging!

Me to influencers pushing daily electrolyte drinks and alkaline water. 🤦‍♀️

Electrolytes + alkaline water are having a moment… but here’s the reality 👇

As a registered dietitian, I can tell you: most people do not need daily electrolyte drinks.

Electrolytes (like sodium, potassium, and magnesium) are already found in everyday foods like fruits, veggies, dairy, and even bread. For the average person doing light-to-moderate exercise, plain water + a balanced diet is more than enough to maintain hydration.

Electrolyte drinks can be helpful in specific situations:
✔️ Prolonged, intense exercise (think >60–90 minutes, especially in heat)
✔️ Heavy sweating
✔️ Illness with vomiting/diarrhea

But for everyday use? Many of these drinks are just expensive flavored water, often with added sugars or unnecessary sodium.

Now let’s talk about alkaline water…

Your body already tightly regulates its pH. What you drink doesn’t meaningfully change your blood pH, otherwise we’d be in serious trouble.

Research shows no consistent evidence that alkaline water:
✖️ “detoxes” your body
✖️ improves hydration beyond regular water
✖️ changes overall health outcomes

In fact, your stomach is highly acidic for a reason: it helps break down food and protect you from harmful bacteria. Alkaline water doesn’t override that.

Bottom line:
💧 Save your money
💧 Drink regular water
💧 Use electrolytes strategically as appropriate (not daily)

Simple > trendy, every
