The scalp doesn’t regrow hair on a schedule you’d like. Minoxidil works by extending the growth phase of the follicle and improving blood flow to the area, which means the follicle stays active longer and produces a thicker strand instead of a fine, short one. That process is slow by design. Most patients see nothing for the first eight to twelve weeks, and some shed more before they see less. That shedding is often the treatment working, not failing.
What made the difference here was consistency and a treatment plan built around the cause of the loss, not just the symptom. Hair loss has a lot of drivers: hormones, iron, thyroid, inflammation, tension on the follicle. Minoxidil addresses growth. It does not address why the growth stopped. That’s the part that requires an actual evaluation.
If you’ve been thinning for a while and hoping it plateaus, earlier intervention gives you more follicles to work with.
