Such a powerful trip. Such a powerful purpose.
The work we do is rooted in the stories and sacrifices of the mothers of Anarcha, Betsy, and Lucy.
This moment sometimes feels like a dream, but it truly happened. As we move closer to Black Maternal Health Week, we pause to honor the Black bodies that were once seen as less than human—bodies that were experimented on, silenced, and denied the chance to advocate for their own health, dignity, and choices.
Their pain is part of the history of maternal health in this country. Their resilience is part of our legacy.
Today, we continue the work so that Black mothers are heard, protected, and respected. We carry their names forward as we fight for justice, dignity, and safe births for every Black mother.
