Donna M. McDonald-McGinn, MS, LCGC, Founding Board Member of the International 22q11.2 Foundation (22q.org), Chair of the 22q11.2 Society (22qsociety.org), Director of the 22q and You Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia ([email protected]), and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania, has authored an article entitled "22q: The Missing Piece" in Helen: The Journal of Human Exceptionality, raising awareness for 22q in the wake of February’s Congenital Heart Disease Month. It follows the journey of the International 22q11.2 Foundation’s Director, Carol Cavana's son Louis, and discusses symptoms associated with chromosome 22q differences and the importance of early detection and coordinated multidisciplinary care.
