In honor of Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month, we are asking any parents who would like to share their story, to reach out to us either via private FB message or email ([email protected]). We would like to share stories throughout October from parents who have experienced loss to raise awareness & remind others that they are not alone. You can choose to be anonymous if you’d like.🩷🩵

Parents will also be asked if they would like to share their contact information with the other parents who share their story to create a directory of those who have experienced this kind of loss to have a support system. You will NOT be required to share your contact information to participate.

Newborn Screening Awareness Month

Newborn screening is a public health program that tests babies shortly after birth for genetic, metabolic, and congenital disorders that may not show symptoms at birth. Early detection can lead to treatment within the first weeks of life, preventing serious illness, developmental disability, intellectual impairment, or death. Conditions like sickle cell disease, cystic fibrosis, and critical congenital heart disease can be caught early, allowing timely intervention

National Infant Mortality Awareness Month

In 2022, over 20,500 infants died in the U.S.
National Infant Mortality Awareness Month (NIMAM) aims to educate the public about infant mortality, which is defined as the death of an infant before their first birthday, and to encourage actions that reduce infant deaths.

Observing NIMAM helps highlight the critical need for preventive care, safe sleep practices, and equitable access to healthcare. It also encourages communities to work together to ensure that every baby has the opportunity to celebrate their first birthday and thrive

Su***de Prevention Month

Su***de is still too often met with silence, stigma, or shame. At NAMI, we believe that silence should never be the response to someone’s pain. That’s why we’re working tirelessly to change that. This September, you can be the difference.

With one conversation, asking someone how they’re really doing — and being ready to truly listen — can save lives. Because here’s what we know: No one has to face this alone. Help exists. Healing is possible. And all it can take is for one person to start a conversation.
