The Tale of Three Trees. by Angela Hunt
Let me tell you about the three trees in the logo of Mark Butts Counseling and Consulting.
All three trees have visions for their lives originally. They are visions of grandeur about how great they want to be. All three trees endure an unexpected treatment as this world did to them what this world tends to do to all. Persevering and patient, all three trees became something more humble, yet glorious than they ever could have imagined in their original dreams.
They knew their worth. They endured unexpected treatment. They became things that this world needed because of their true identity.
This is the healing offered in counseling, and the excellence offered in executive coaching. Life will cut us down at times, this world can do that. But being cut is not the end of the story. Our willingness to become something wonderful is the story that will be told of us when our time on this earth is through.

Have you noticed if you've ever tended to label people?
The truth about labels is that it is for our own comfort. It provides us a way to know people. We are protecting ourselves in doing so.
The problem with labels is it limits people in our eyes. Humans are never something in every situation. We have capacity to grow. So if you label your family, your workers, or your team members as certain labels, even if they're "good", you are limiting them. You wind up only seeing when they fit your expectation of them, rather than being happy about when they exceed past behaviors.
Allow yourself to be amazed at what your children, athletes, team members or employees can do in certain circumstances and help accentuate those positives when they excel. Drop the labels, increase the functioning. You'll be glad you did.

For one year this has been a solo practice that has sought to help people connect-heal-grow. As we get ready to celebrate the official 1 year anniversary of being a solo practice we want to stop and thank the folks that have entrusted us with their mental, emotional, and relational care. Thank you to Jennifer who works very hard behind the scenes to make sure clients have a seamless experience on the business side.
