Health changes can feel overwhelming when we focus only on what needs to change.

Annie Harrington, Holistic Nurse Practitioner and Director of Pathways at Wellness Insights, offers another way to think about the process: What are you receiving along the way?

Her own experience navigating celiac disease taught her more about food, nutrition, cooking and caring for her body than she ever expected. Today, that experience shapes how she thinks about cardiometabolic health and creating sustainable change.

Our Pathways are designed around that same idea. You’re not expected to figure everything out at once or navigate it alone.

We help you understand where you are, identify meaningful next steps and build a lifestyle that supports your health over time.

Symptoms can be hard to read when we look at them in isolation.

Fatigue might seem like one problem. Poor sleep another. Digestive changes, brain fog or headaches might feel completely separate. But your health doesn’t exist in separate boxes.

At Wellness Insights, we look at the bigger picture, bringing together your symptoms, labs, health history, lifestyle and other factors that may be influencing how you feel.

Instead of only asking, **“How do we make this symptom go away?”** we also ask, **“Why might this be happening?”**

Because symptoms are information.

And when we start connecting the dots, they can help us better understand what may be happening beneath the surface.

Thank you to Brightview on New Canaan for welcoming Wellness Insights for **Taste the Rainbow**! 🌈

Dr. KC Cannon joined Chef Vincente for a chef-driven tasting experience centered around green-inspired dishes and the idea of food as natural medicine.

Together, they explored how everyday nutrition can support inflammation, joint health and overall wellness, while showing that nourishing our bodies can also be flavorful, enjoyable and rooted in connection.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to bring practical wellness education into our community and connect with people outside of the office.

Thank you to the Brightview team and everyone who joined us for such a wonderful afternoon! 💗

When a symptom appears, our first instinct is often to focus on making it disappear.

But symptoms can also provide valuable information about what may be happening elsewhere in the body or in our daily lives.

At Wellness Insights, we believe good care includes looking at the bigger picture. That can mean considering factors such as stress, sleep, nutrition, hormones, movement, environment, lifestyle patterns, and other pieces of a person's health history alongside the symptom itself.

This doesn't mean symptom relief isn't important. It means we can ask another question at the same time: **What may be contributing to this?** That curiosity can help uncover patterns that aren't always obvious when we look at one concern in isolation.

In this video, Dr. Katie Takayasu shares how she thinks about the difference between managing a symptom and exploring what may be happening beneath the surface.

Meet Dr. Kathleen “KC” Cannon, ND, one of the providers at Wellness Insights Integrative Medicine.

Dr. KC’s path to naturopathic medicine began with her own health journey. After experiencing a significant health crisis, she left a career in financial services to pursue medicine and help others gain a deeper understanding of their health.

That experience continues to shape the way she practices today. Dr. KC spends time getting to know each patient’s concerns, health history, goals, lifestyle, and available testing before developing an individualized treatment plan. With training in naturopathic and functional medicine, she is particularly interested in supporting patients navigating autoimmune and chronic conditions, chronic infections, and other complex health concerns.

Her work at Wellness Insights also includes HeartMath sessions with biofeedback, which can help patients better understand their psychophysiological stress response, as well as individualized genomics consultations using raw data from popular genetic testing services.

At the heart of Dr. KC’s approach is a belief in empowering patients with greater knowledge, practical tools, and a deeper connection to their own health.

Dr. KC sees patients both in person and virtually.

What if the salad on the dinner table was something your kids actually asked for?

For our Director of Patient Care, Courtney Paré, that’s exactly what happened.

What started as a simple combination of whatever she had in the refrigerator eventually became a family staple affectionately known as “Mommy Salad.”

It’s colorful, crunchy and incredibly customizable, combining vegetables like kale, cucumbers, peppers, carrots and tomatoes with sunflower seeds and a few kid-approved favorites like craisins and crispy onions. Add avocado, feta, grilled chicken or whatever works for your family, then finish it with Courtney’s simple homemade dressing.

But what we love most about this recipe isn’t any single ingredient.

It’s the philosophy behind it.

At Wellness Insights Integrative Medicine, we believe nourishing the body with whole, balanced foods should also work within the realities of everyday life. Food doesn’t need to be “perfect” to be nourishing, and helping children build healthy habits doesn’t have to turn every meal into a battle.

Sometimes success looks like finding something nutritious that your family genuinely enjoys, making it consistently and letting everyone make it their own.

That’s a win worth celebrating. 💗

At Wellness Insights, we believe strong communities are an important part of helping people live healthier, fuller lives.

We were proud to support this year’s Grassroots Grand Slam Gala and the incredible work Grassroots Tennis & Education continues to do for young people throughout Stamford and Norwalk. 💗

Grassroots combines high-quality tennis instruction with academic support, character development, mentorship, and a safe, caring environment where children can learn, grow, and build confidence.

The organization serves more than 400 children ages 5–18 each year and has reached more than 7,500 local young people since 1995. For the past 10 years, 100% of Grassroots seniors have graduated high school and continued on to college or post-secondary education.

Their work is a wonderful example of what can happen when movement, education, mentorship, and community come together to support the whole person.

We’re grateful to support Grassroots and its continued investment in the next generation of our community. Learn more about Grassroots Tennis & Education through the link in the first comment.

Your stress response isn’t only happening in your mind. It’s a physiological process that can influence how you feel and function throughout the day.

HeartMath is one of the tools Dr. KC Cannon, ND, uses with patients to better understand that connection. Through strategies that bring together the nervous system, physiology, thoughts, and emotions, HeartMath provides measurable feedback that can help patients develop greater awareness of their stress response and practice regulation techniques. It’s one example of the personalized tools we can incorporate into care at Wellness Insights.

Our Pathways are designed to bring these pieces together, looking at your health data alongside your symptoms, lifestyle, and goals to create a more personalized and connected approach to your care.

What if understanding your DNA could help you take a more personalized approach to your health?

While nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management remain foundational to healthy aging, advances in genomic research are giving us another valuable piece of the longevity puzzle. Genetics is not destiny. It is information.

Your DNA may offer insights into areas such as cardiovascular and metabolic health, inflammation, nutrient metabolism, hormone regulation, cognitive health, medication response, and more. But those insights become most meaningful when considered alongside your health history, family history, laboratory findings, lifestyle, and environment.

At Wellness Insights Integrative Medicine, Naturopathic Physician Dr. Kathleen "KC" Cannon uses genomic analysis as part of a whole-person approach to help patients better understand their unique biology and identify opportunities to support long-term health.

The goal is not to predict your future. It is to give you more information to make informed, proactive decisions about your health today.

In our latest article, we explore the evolving science of genomics and longevity and how understanding your DNA can help personalize your approach to healthy aging.
