Elohi ama misi ziibi
She is not a resource.
She is the oldest relative still moving.
Earth. Water. Great River.
The vein that remembers every foot that ever stood on her banks, every prayer that ever fell into her, every wound that was poured into her and still she kept flowing.
It is not poetry when I say she is tired.
It is not metaphor when I say she is asking.
The current carries the memory of every generation that took and took and called it progress.
Now the responsibility sits in our mouths, our hands, our children’s future.
Protect her.
Heal her.
Not someday. Not when it is convenient.
Now — because she is still willing to carry us.
This is how you begin tonight, wherever you are:
Go to water.
A river if you can reach her. A creek. Rain on the window. Even the tap.
Place your palm near it or in it.
Speak her name once, slow:
Elohi ama misi ziibi.
Then make one promise you will keep this week.
One piece of trash lifted.
One word spoken for her when others stay silent.
One less poison allowed to reach her.
One breath given back instead of taken.
Do not wait to feel ready.
Warriors do not wait for permission from the wound.
The river is already moving.
Move with her.
The circle is forming from every direction.
You were never meant to watch this alone.
