🌿✨ Today’s Harvest: Wild Lettuce! ✨🌿

I’m so excited to share today’s abundance! This beautiful pile of wild lettuce (Lactuca spp.) was growing right in my own backyard and is now ready to be transformed into herbal preparations. There’s something special about gathering medicine from the land God has provided. 💚

Wild lettuce has a long history of traditional use and is often referred to as “lettuce opium” because of the milky white latex it produces and its traditional use for relaxation and discomfort support.

🌿 Traditional Herbal Uses of Wild Lettuce:
• Supports relaxation and calmness
• Traditionally used for occasional discomfort
• May help promote restful sleep
• Traditionally used to ease tension and restlessness
• Supports overall relaxation of the nervous system

⚠️ Latex Warning:
Wild lettuce contains a milky white latex sap. Some people may be sensitive to this latex and should use caution when handling or using wild lettuce preparations. Always research herbs thoroughly and consult a qualified healthcare professional if you have concerns.

🍃 Coming Soon from One Stone Wellness:
• Wild Lettuce Tinctures
• Wild Lettuce Double Extracts
• Wild Lettuce Salves

There’s a lot of work ahead—cleaning, processing, extracting, and patiently waiting for the herbal magic to unfold—but I’m grateful for every step of the journey.

God’s creation continues to amaze me. Sometimes the remedies we seek are growing right outside our door. 🌱

Sweet Gum season is here! 🌳✨

Today we spent time gathering Sweet Gum Balls straight from nature. While many people see them as a nuisance in the yard, these spiky seed pods have a long history of traditional use. The Sweet Gum tree has been valued for generations, and different parts of the tree have been used in folk herbal practices throughout history.

For me, harvesting these gifts from nature is about more than herbs—it’s about slowing down, observing God’s creation, and remembering that even things often overlooked can have value and purpose.

Nature is full of lessons if we’re willing to pay attention. 💚

Have you ever used or learned about Sweet Gum before?

Today was a beautiful day spent gathering Mimosa blooms! 🌸

Mimosa (Albizia julibrissin), often called the “Tree of Happiness,” has been treasured in traditional herbal practices for centuries. Its delicate pink blossoms are known for their calming nature and have long been associated with supporting emotional well-being and encouraging a peaceful spirit.

There is something special about slowing down, spending time in nature, and harvesting God’s creation by hand. Every flower reminds me of the beauty, abundance, and healing wisdom found all around us.

Jewelweed is the herbal remedy to poison oak/ivy/sumac and stinging nettle. Here we have jewelweed growing right in the middle of a patch of poison oak and ivy. Jewelweed likes the shade, so in the woods is where I usually see them together. All you have to do is crush up the Jewelweed and rub it on your skin to neutralize the oils from the poison oak and ivy. You can also make ice cubes, salves and sprays to keep Jewelweed around the house and ready for use.

Today we take a quiet moment to remember those who gave everything for the freedom we live in.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a day of honor, gratitude, reflection, and remembrance.

May we carry thankfulness in our hearts, pray for the families who still feel the loss, and never forget the sacrifice that was made.

With love and gratitude,
