Today, Horizons Healthcare joins our community in recognizing and celebrating Juneteenth—a powerful day of reflection, liberty, and resilience.
The History Behind the Day:
On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation. This monumental day officially brought the news of freedom to the last remaining enslaved Black Americans—two and a half years after the proclamation had been signed.
As a healthcare organization, we believe that true well-being is deeply rooted in equity, justice, and community support. Today, we honor the profound history, vibrant culture, and enduring contributions of Black Americans, while reaffirming our ongoing commitment to fostering a healthier, more inclusive, and equitable future for everyone we serve.
