September’s box is here 🌙

This month’s theme is Call It a Day — a gentle reminder that you do not have to finish everything before you’re allowed to rest.

For anyone living with chronic illness, evenings can easily turn into one more round of catching up, pushing through, or scrolling until you’re too tired to think. This box was curated to make winding down feel a little softer and a lot less demanding.

Inside you’ll find:
📓 Night Routine Journal
🖊️ Gold Metal Pen
☕ Johann Haviland Teacup
🫖 3 Tea with Tae Tea Bags
✨ Reusable Eye Patches
🧼 Fragrance-Free Goat Milk Soap

Over $70 in value packed into one cozy, low-pressure evening routine.

Some nights might be tea, journaling, and a little self-care.

Other nights might just be meds, charger, bed.

Both count.

One of the hardest parts of living with chronic illness isn't always the symptoms.

Sometimes it's the guilt.

The guilt of resting.

The guilt of cancelling.

The guilt of needing help.

The guilt of doing less than you used to.

If no one has told you lately...

You don't have to carry all of that.

📦 Behind the Box

People often ask how products make it into a Bendy Box.

The answer is surprisingly simple:

Will this genuinely make a difficult day a little easier?

If the answer is yes, we take a closer look.

If the answer is no—even if it's trendy or popular—it doesn't make the cut.

Every item is chosen with one goal:

To help someone living with chronic illness feel seen, supported, and cared for.

💙 I'd love to hear from you...

What makes a product feel truly comforting to you?

Some days, it’s easy to become frustrated with our bodies.

The symptoms.
The cancellations.
The plans that have to change.
The things we wish we could do.

But our bodies aren’t trying to make life difficult. They’re doing the best they can while handling things most people never have to think about.

That doesn’t make the difficult days any less difficult—but sometimes, shifting from frustration to compassion can make them feel a little less lonely.

If you needed this reminder today, you’re not alone. 💙

Save this for the next time you’re tempted to be hard on yourself.

This week's question...

**Living with chronic illness would be easier if...**

For me?

I'd love one completely pain-free day every month.

Just one.

Not because I'd spend it cleaning the house or catching up on work...

I'd probably do something simple that most people take for granted.

Go for a long walk.
Spend the day at a theme park.
Work in the yard.
Stay out without wondering how much I'd pay for it tomorrow.

It's funny how chronic illness changes what feels like a luxury.

Now it's your turn...

Finish the sentence in the comments.

I have a feeling we're all going to read through the replies and think,

*"Yep... I felt that."* 💙

The "good day trap" gets me almost every time. 😅

The second I wake up feeling even a little better, my brain starts making plans like I'm trying to catch up on the last three weeks in one afternoon.

Meanwhile, my body is quietly whispering...

*"Please don't."*

Learning to pace myself has been one of the hardest parts of living with chronic illness—and if I'm being honest, I'm still learning.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's ever celebrated taking a shower because that ended up being the biggest accomplishment of the day. 😂💙

👇 What's the most overly ambitious thing you've put on a "good day" to-do list?

One of the biggest misconceptions about chronic illness is that rest is a luxury.

For many of us, it isn't.

It's a tool.

It's part of managing symptoms.

It's often what allows us to participate in tomorrow's plans instead of spending days recovering from today's.

That doesn't mean resting is always easy.

In fact, it can come with a surprising amount of guilt—especially in a world that often equates productivity with worth.

If someone you love lives with chronic illness, one of the most supportive things you can do is understand that rest isn't "doing nothing."

It's often one of the hardest and most important choices they make.

💙

If this resonated with you, consider sharing it with someone who might benefit from a different perspective.

When I first started dreaming about The Bendy Box, I wasn't trying to create just another subscription box.

I wanted to create something I wish had existed during my own journey with chronic illness.

Something thoughtful.
Something practical.
Something comforting.

Every month begins with a theme, and from there I spend hours researching, testing, comparing, and curating products that I genuinely believe could make someone's day just a little easier.

If I wouldn't use it myself…
If I wouldn't recommend it to a friend…
It doesn't make the box.

The Bendy Box isn't about "fixing" chronic illness.

It's about creating moments of comfort, encouragement, and support on the days you need them most.

Whether that's a product that makes life a little easier, a reminder that rest is productive, or simply knowing someone else understands what you're going through—I hope every box reminds you that you're not alone.

If you're new here, welcome. 💙

I'm so glad you found us.

A gentle reminder for anyone who needs it today:

You are allowed to pause.

Not because you finished everything.
Not because you explained yourself well enough.
Not because you finally “earned” it.

Because you are a person with limits, needs, and a body that deserves care.

Living with chronic illness can make rest feel complicated. There’s guilt, pressure, comparison, and the constant feeling that you should be doing more.

But rest is not a reward.

Rest is care.

And you are allowed to care for yourself. 💙

The funny thing about creating a box called **Permission to Pause** is that somewhere along the way, I realized I needed that reminder too.

The last couple of months have been full. Between chronic illness, the end of the school year, some big family changes, and everything that goes into curating each month's box, social media ended up being the thing that had to wait.

The Bendy Box never stopped moving behind the scenes. There has been product sourcing, testing, designing, planning, and so many exciting things that I can't wait to share with you.

So... hi again. 💙

I'm excited to get back to sharing more behind-the-scenes moments, chronic illness realities, and all the little things that go into creating each box. Thanks for being here.
