Schools are back in session and our Friend to Friend program is too. Friend to Friend is a grief support group for school-aged students, offered in Morgan County, Lawrence County, Decatur City, Hartselle City, and Decatur Heritage Christian Academy.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone that stopped by to visit with us at our lemonade stand as we recognized National Grief Awareness. We are grateful for every opportunity to raise awareness, offer support, and remind the community that no one has to walk through grief alone.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more about this important day, why grief awareness matters, and why we’re passing out lemonade as a simple reminder to pause, reflect, and take a moment to recognize the many ways grief touches our lives.

In recognition of National Grief Awareness Day, Hospice of the Valley wants our community to know: You do not have to walk through grief alone!
Our Community Bereavement Center offers free support groups and individual grief counseling to anyone in our community, not just families who have received hospice care.

Hospice of the Valley was proud to attend the 2026 State of Healthcare Forum this morning hosted by the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce and celebrate the exciting progress and future of Decatur Morgan Hospital.
As the community’s nonprofit hospice, we are honored to support our local healthcare partners whenever we can and believe strongly in working together to strengthen the care and well-being of the communities we serve.

National Grief Awareness Day is Sunday, August 30th. While grief may seem like an unusual thing to recognize, this day gives us an important opportunity to talk about something every one of us will experience. Grief looks different for everyone, and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Most importantly, we don’t have to rush through it or walk through it alone.
