Dear Friends - Please read -
My Daddy used to say “there’s a little good in the worst of us, and a little bad in us all.” Sometimes I think we all get so used to the bad, the negative, the difficult, that the good gets overshadowed. Today I saw the good with my own eyes.
I’m not going to use names or even say which store I was in, but I was doing a makeover on a woman my age who recently “rang the bell” signifying the end of her chemotherapy treatments for cancer. I’ll call her Customer A. She had never been in our store before coming in and asking for a pick-me-up makeover.
I was working by myself today; so when another customer, Customer B, came in to get several things, A told me to go ahead and help B, and so I did.
A was very friendly and we were talking about the struggles of cancer treatments when B came in. A and B did not know each at all, but B heard a little of my conversation with A before I started helping her.
As I was gathering B’s things A and B started talking…about how terrible cancer is…about how awful the treatments can be, about the overall spirit of someone fighting for their life against a dreadful cancer diagnosis. They continued to chat for several minutes and then B came up to pay for her things.
Now let me say B has been our customer for many years. A precious woman, with a family and a business, in which she works very hard and long hours.
After B paid for her things, she handed me a $100 bill and whispered “God told me to do this. Use this for some of her (Customer A) things.
I waited until she left before going back to finish with Customer A. When I told her what the other woman had done, she teared-up and started to cry. I explained that Customer B wanted her to know that she did it at the urging of the Lord and not for personal thanks.
It was a blessing all the way around. Customer A bought some things she might not have been able to buy and hopefully the entire experience made her feel better. Customer B heeded the urging of the Lord and showed His loving kindness through her actions. She was the vessel that we all can be in ways too numerous to count.
And me.? I had the absolute privilege to witness it all and to see the genuine goodness in people.
It was a great day. ❤️
