Next Step Transition Center empowers adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community involvement, life skills, volunteer opportunities, and compassionate support—helping each individual build confidence and independence everyday! Next Step is dedicated to providing individuals with developmental disabilities a structured program that includes social, educational, vocation
al and recreational activities. Community based outings provide individuals integration in the community through activities such as bowling, movies, Wal-Mart, Miller Outdoor Theatre, restaurants, and many others. Next step offers classes giving the individuals the independence to choose their interests. Class offerings include art, music, theatre arts, and cooking. Individuals participate in daily life skills activities that include personal care, communication, organizational skills, vocational skills, time management, money, and functional reading. Skills are taught and reinforced through differentiated activities and games. Rec and leisure time allows for group interaction and socialization. Next Step also provides program management for HCS and TxHmL waivers.
