We have talked about the vagus nerve in the past and how it acts as the ‘communicator’ between the digestive system and the brain.
One way you can improve your vagal tone and activate the body’s ability to ‘rest and digest’ is slow, deep breathing.

If you find yourself in a tense moment throughout your day, take time out to focus on your breathing.

Some general tips:

1. Remember to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth
2. Breathe slowly (about six breaths per minute)
3. Breathe deeply, think about expanding your abdomen and widening your rib cage as you inhale.
3. Exhale longer than you inhale. Exhalation is what stimulates the relaxation response

Do you ever feel bloated?

Sure, bloating can be related to food intake, but oftentimes, the gallbladder is involved….the gallbladder is the liver’s storage reservoir for bile. When you eat fat, the gallbladder contracts and sends bile to the small intestine to help break down the fats.

A - Akkermansia muciniphila……akkermansia is responsible for maintaining the mucus layer of the intestinal lining and also has a metabolic component, so it plays a part in weight management.

If you haven’t had delicata squash, you are missing out! Cut the squash in half, long way. Dig out seeds. Add a little butter or ghee and seasoning; we added Celtic Sea Salt. Add a tiny bit of water in the bottom of the Pyrex - cook squash till fork tender (about an hour) at 400 degrees.

Delicata is delicioso! Great way to incorporate a unique veggie….tastes like baked potato/sweet potato 🥔
