I have felt called to teach people how to think differently about their pet’s health… I wanted to share from my own, authentic experience and not just pass along what I’ve learned through schooling. It took me a long time to gain the confidence to feel ready to step up into my own-self as a practitioner. The dogs I’ve helped, both in person and remotely, have spoken- results show and I hope to help more dogs by educating a wider audience on gut healing. This! I don’t need testing to tell me there is gut dysbiosis present- because at the end of the day- the approach to healing the gut is fairly universal. This is where the skill of a practitioner comes in to individualize a plan- what and for how long. This is also why I choose to use a broad spectrum herbal “kill” approach to rebalance the gut- there are pathogens that aren’t even tested for or have mutated and don’t show up on testing!

Is anyone else falling out of love with faecal analysis?

It's easy to get excited about the tech. With compute power now increasing at 10-fold a year, the cost of analysis is plummeting.

But AI is using what WE understand of the gut flora and using it to make very believable inferences, resulting in large, complicated readouts that ultimately say "yeah, it's a bit of a mess".

I know, the smell coming down the stairs this morning told me that for nothing!

More and more people are coming to consults now armed with these reports.

If they were of use, the report (and subsequent advice) would have fixed them.

But it doesn't seem to be.

Gut conditions like IBD (now CIE, do keep up...), are very complicated. There is endless factors. None of which a probiotic solves.

I think, for dogs with chronic gut conditions, focusing our attention and resources on the poo puddle may well be the wrong end of the pipe...
