Strengthen your body to prevent getting sick
👉 Wash and moisturize your hands often.
👉 Get plenty of sleep.
👉 Eat foods that are nourishing and easy to digest.
👉 Manage your stress, meditate and breathe.
👉 Wear your warmest clothes and keep your skin and nose protected from the wind.

Manage the attack (Expel the virus)
👉 Are your symptoms "hot" or "cold."?
In Chinese Medicine, cold symptoms include sneezing, runny nose with clear or white phlegm, itchy throat, coughing up clear or white mucus, and an achy body.
Hot symptoms include sore throat, more fever than chills, thirst, nasal congestion with yellow phlegm, and coughing up yellow mucus.

👉 Eat plenty of broth-based soups and rice. Drink warm liquids.
If your symptoms are more "cold" be sure to add ginger, cinnamon, green onion and garlic to your foods.
If your symptoms are more hot, drink lots of peppermint tea and eat cooling fruits, like oranges and other citrus fruits.
👉 Get plenty of rest.

This season is about the element of water and the organ associated with it are the Kidneys.

The emotion associated with the Kidney is fear. The Kidneys are deeply rooted in our body. Oftentimes, fear is the same way. We may not be aware that we are in fear until it has been with us a long time. Longstanding fear can weaken the kidneys. Since the Kidney’s oversee our water metabolism and control the bladder, we oftentimes will see urinary issues, lowered sexual drive and water metabolism issues with longstanding fear.

Living in Harmony with the Seasons ❄️

In traditional chinese medicine, Winter is associated with water, the element of pooling, tranquility and flow.

In the body, the water element is connected with circulation of the blood, perspiration, tears, the bladder and, most significantly, the kidney.

This is the season of stillness, where nature seems to be at rest. It is a good season to look into our depths, to reconnect to our inner being, to befriend the darkness within us and around us.

Some tips include:
🧥 Keep your back covered! In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s important to keep your kidneys warm in winter.
🍲Eat warming foods such as hearty soups
🙇‍♀️Practice fluid exercises like Tai Chi, qigong or yoga
🚣Sit in the whirlpool or steam room, or take a stroll near a creek or the sea. Treat yourself to a long, warm bath, a nap, or the time to simply lie back and relax.
