Not the update we wanted to share, but we always want to move with transparency…

As many of you know, we’ve been diligently working with the City of Portage and negotiating a lease. We were hopeful this would be the home for our clinic and birth center, and we’re truly grateful to everyone who helped move the process forward.

We thought we had found our space.
We negotiated and mutually agreed upon a letter of intent -- the landlord had agreed to take care of some significant repairs to the building, including rotted windows and sills.

Unfortunately, after everything was signed, the agreement changed, and we were asked to take on the cost of those repairs ourselves. We simply could not responsibly take on the cost of significant existing building repairs, so the deal ultimately fell through.

We’re disappointed, but we’re not discouraged. We believe God is in this, and we trust that if this wasn’t the place, He has something better for us.

The demand for the services we hope to provide continues to grow, and our hearts are still fully committed to creating a place where women and families can receive excellent, compassionate care.

Okay, so you want to see what the future birth center is going to look like…

But the vision is becoming REAL, and we are so excited!

We’re looking for painting supplies, flooring, furniture, tools, skilled volunteers, contractors, painters, handy people, and local businesses who would like to donate or sponsor a room.

You know that old saying… 🍏
“an apple a day keeps the doctor away”?

With back-to-school season in full swing, it means the germs are coming with it! While we can’t keep our kids away from every germ, there are simple, natural ways we can support their immune systems.

💤 Prioritize good sleep
🍊 Nourishing, whole foods
🥩 Plenty of protein
🥝 Fruits & veggies
🍲 Meals made with bones and healthy fats (think homemade soups, stews, and broths)
💧 Lots of water
☀️ Time outside & sunshine
🧄 Garlic, ginger, citrus, berries & leafy greens

🍯 Locally produced honey (for kids over 1)

When the sniffles inevitably make their way home, supportive care is best. Rest, fluids, nourishing food, and lots of cuddles. 🤍

We don’t have to fear every germ, but we can focus on supporting our families and giving their bodies what they need to stay well.

We are overjoyed to introduce Jenna, a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Board-Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner joining Covenant Life to provide adult and women's health care across Southwest Michigan.

Jenna brings a decade of women's health experience — ten years as a Labor & Delivery nurse at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, one of the largest birthing centers — along with a master's degree as a board-certified Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and board certification in Functional Medicine.

What sets Jenna apart is her heart. She practices from a holistic, whole-person perspective, always looking past symptoms to find the root cause. She believes health is far more than managing symptoms with pharmaceuticals — and she longs for every patient to discover what's actually driving their symptoms, so they can live a more vibrant, functional life. ✨

💛 Jenna warmly welcomes female patients from puberty through every season of life.
