So often, we shoulder the weight of our burdens on our own and wonder why we feel crushed. We’ve been trained in our society to think we’re ~ supposed~ to be able handle all our grief alone. A grief ceremony challenges that belief in the most beautiful way. We’ve forgotten how to grieve well, so we suffer more. I’d like to start to change that tide in Denton.

If you’re grieving—if you carry any measure of sorrow—I hope we’ll see you on Saturday for our Cacao circle. Ticket price covers the cost of supplies and my prep time, but if you’re unable to pay and in need of support, please reach out regardless. My arms are open. ❤️ You can email [email protected] and we’ll work it out.

If you’re able to and would like to sponsor a ticket for someone you know who could use the support, your generosity is so appreciated.

Cacao Circle for Grief | THIS Saturday, May 16th at 6:30 PM

Ceremonial Cacao is raw, minimally processed chocolate. It has been used for thousands of years as a medicine, food, currency, and spiritual guide. Theobromine, the main alkaloid and taxonomic namesake of the Theobroma cacao plant gently improves focus and energy by stimulating the heart and relaxing blood vessels, which boosts circulation. It’s also a quarter as stimulating as coffee and when used regularly, offers clean, sustained energy for 6-10 hours. It’s full of feel-good compounds, antioxidants, and minerals your body uses to perform its best.

In addition to physical health benefits, that heart-opening sensation extends to the emotional heart. When we sit with Cacao in a circle, we learn to collectively hold one another’s grief, share burdens, and love our neighbors. It would be my absolute honor to share this medicine with you!

Sold out sound bath was fantastic last night! Thanks to Tabitha for helping me get set up, like always. We're thinking of offering an outdoor sound bath one evening if there's interest in that, so let us know!

If you're unable to sit or lie down on a yoga mat comfortably for ~an hour, that should never stop you from being able to participate. We have accommodations for that like two massage/Reiki tables, a soft futon floor mat, knee bolsters, a meditation cushion, and plenty of pillows and blankets. Just email [email protected] after you reserve your ticket(s), and I'll set whatever you need aside for ya. Otherwise, they are first come, first serve. Be selfish; we highly encourage you to get what you need to have the experience you want!

Tea is served beforehand, and everyone gets a little individual attention at one point or another. We host these sound baths once every month, and we offer 1:1 sound therapy sessions all the time. Sign up at the bottom of our events page to stay up to date on events, discounts, volunteer opportunities and more so you never miss out on a chance to heal with your community!

Finally, mothers get 20% off their first 1:1 session (sound therapy or otherwise) in the month of May. Send this to a mom who could use some discounted self-care. Better yet, send her a gift card to Mindful Wellness Center so she can choose. Available on our website. Custom amounts available on request.

P.S. If you love the art on the walls in our group room, give MJ's Equine Art Studio a follow. Maggie Leverett is our featured local artist, and she's incredible.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26 | 6:30PM

Our group sound bath is $45/person and includes the group experience as well as a few minutes of individual attention for each participant if they'd like. This is a great, safe way to try out sound therapy if you've never experienced it before.

Clinical research showing the benefits of sound therapy is emerging, and we've seen positive outcomes like stress reduction, improved sleep quality, pain management, and enhanced mood both for ourselves and our clients.

The deep, meditative state that can be achieved during a longer experience like an hour-long sound bath has potential benefits not only for relaxation, but also for cognitive function and creativity as well!

Abby also offers private 1:1 sound therapy sessions.
30 minutes - $45
60 minutes - $90

We'll be there! Hope to see you there too.

Everyone seemed to love our last post sharing Cathy's healing session out at the farm...

Well, you're in luck, helping professionals! Friday, May 8th from 9:00AM - 12:00PM is your chance to come hang out with us and experience it for yourself FOR FREE. 🥰✨

If you are a helper for humans, animals, or both, we want to see you out here. We have a free sound bath, free 15-minute healing sessions (we can get a lot done with 3 pairs of hands on ya!), and lots of opportunity to build connections and collaborate with other likeminded professionals in our area. Everyone is welcome to come and go as they please. Stay the whole time or stop by for a few minutes.

We hope you can make it!

ETA: To clarify, we wholeheartedly include mothers as helping professionals, so please, if you are a mother, consider yourself invited and encouraged to participate. 🩷

Please scan the QR code or visit https://forms.gle/NuYbiVVC4aBx6S2C6 to RSVP for the sound bath and/or reserve your demo session! We have limited space for sessions, so we HIGHLY encourage you to be greedy—you deserve it. ☺️

With AI writing textbooks and materia medica these days (😬) I thought I’d give you some of my favorite trusted intro herbalism books. By intro, please don’t misunderstand me. These are some treasure troves of knowledge. There are so many fascinating topics you can dive into in this field, but here are some that I’d start with!

If you’re curious what the hecky Vitalism or Traditional Western Herbalism is, Matthew Wood’s books, The Book of Herbal Wisdom and The Practice of Traditional Western Herbalism are the place to start. These books opened my eyes to a whole new world. However, they can be a little heady at first if you’ve never been exposed to the concepts, and I feel like that’s worth a mention. Upon returning to them later, I realized how much they influenced my studies, and I’m really grateful. I go back to them from time to time.

That said, I’m partial to Kat Maier’s Energetic Herbalism. When it was first published, it was the exact book I’d been wishing for. I had already started mapping and comparing different healing systems myself so this book was (and is) an absolute gold mine for my pattern recognizing brain.

I hope this helps you start diving into herb studies, and if there’s any specific topic you’d like recommendations on, let me know!
