Hi. My name is Jonathan and here is my Oily Story... In the Oily beginning...
A few years ago a woman came into the salon & spa where I was working at the time. She was a walk-in appointment and she came to my chair for a hair servicing. During the service and after our consultation she asked if that was a Lavender Sprig on the back of my hand (I have a lot of colorful tattoos)
I was so surprised that she recognized that my tattoo was of Lavender (not because of the tattoo image quality- it's a great looking tattoo- at least I think so anyway) but most people who are unfamiliar with botanical plants don't usually recognized it. So began our friendship...
That woman was Wendy Daves Selvig, a hands down amazing human being! She is also a Certified Aromatherapist, a Certified Raindrop Massage Tech, a State Board Certified CRTS, and she is also a Paid Natural Health Researcher for a non-profit for over the past 15 years!
I was already somewhat familiar with herbology, however Wendy was the person who truly gave me a formal introduction to Essential Oils, and obviously Young Living.
There are so many truly amazing and wonderful benefits of Young Living Essential Oils; from the oils themselves to all of the supplements that really do help create balance and wellness physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Not to mention the sustainably sourced and grown plants and materials to the Seed to Seal promise (they hand pick the weeds! It's better than organic!) Also, the community of Oilers, and of course the amazing ways the company gives back through such nonprofit organizations like the D. Gary Young foundation among many others!
The benefits continue beyond just personal use of the products for those folks like Wendy and I who have been so inspired by YLEO that we have chosen to make it our career paths! The Structure of the Network Marketing aspect of YL distributes the wealth back to the people! Absolutely anyone can make a career in this business with Young Living!
My inspiration to make Young Living my new career path came from the recent health challenges that I have addressed and become able to manage through the use of these products and living a natural healthy lifestyle to best of my ability. Here is my personal testimony...
I have a severe family history of Glaucoma. My grandmother had multiple surgeries and eventually lost most of her eyesight by the time she passed away. My father is currently blind in one eye. I have been told by three different doctors (one of them a Glaucoma Specialist) that I am the worst case of Glaucoma each of them has ever seen at my age. The Glaucoma Specialist told me that if I do absolutely nothing that I would without a doubt be blind by the time I turn 40 years old. Today as I write this I am 35. My Glaucoma is that of a 70 year old person.
I was prepared to do anything and everything in my power to keep my vision and prevent myself from going blind. What I wasn't willing to do any longer because of the side effects was continue to take the medication. The eye drops itched and burned, clouded my mind, caused fatigue and blurred my vision. I was unable to wear contacts while taking the drops and I couldn't do hair while wearing glasses because the lenses would trap the chemical fumes against my eyes.
I cleaned up my diet with organic nutrition and focused on physical fitness and mental wellness. I became grounded and centered through prayer and meditation.
In 2016 I had laser surgery to relieve my Intraocular Pressure. Glaucoma is the actual damage done to the optic nerve inside the eye from too high of eye pressure. For reasons still specifically unknown, people with glaucoma- their eye fluid does not drain normally which creates high eye pressure killing the optic nerve which is responsible for our vision. The surgery was a temporary fix. My eye pressure once again increased to dangerous levels.
Upon another visit with Wendy I told her about my plight and battle to save my eye sight. She told me about a blend put together by Dr. Debra Raybern; equal parts of Frankincense, Sandalwood, Lemongrass, Lavender, and V6 (YL's carrier oil blend to make your EO's last longer and go farther and to disperse them when applied to skin) The Game Changer that Wendy then told me about and was insistent on me taking (out of love, care, concern, and a desire to help) was Young Living's Ningxia Red.
Ningxia Red is a liquid essential oil infused wolfberry supplement. The specific type of wolfberry is the best of its kind that you can find on Earth and it specifically comes from Ningxia China- hence the name!
Once I began taking the Ningxia Red (4-6 oz in the beginning) and applying the eyesight blend around each eye twice daily in combination with living a healthy lifestyle focused on mind, body, and spirit, after about 6 weeks something happened...
My eye pressure decreased to safe levels and my eyesight improved!! I attest that this was and still is a hands down healing miracle by the Grace of God through my transformation of living a healthy, toxin free lifestyle in combination with Young Living Essential Oils and Supplements guided by knowledgeable folks like Wendy. They will tell you that nerves do not regenerate but mine clearly did!
You can imagine the emotional process at the thought of potentially going blind at a young age. I've been aware of the possibility my whole life and at times it consumed me but it suddenly just became a thing of the past. It was no longer a fear. I was free. I was liberated. I could see!
Naturally I wanted to share this wealth of wellness with everyone I possibly could. I was ready to shout it from the roof tops and so my professional Oily Adventure had officially begun!
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better it did! I was blessed to accompany my dear friends Wendy and Amber and many others to my very first Young Living International Grand Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah this past summer of 2019. (This is also where I ran and completed my first official 5K race!) It was amazing and I could feel God and the Universe speaking directly to me (and clearly many others lol) when Young Living unveiled their new eye health supplement; IlluminEyes.
Illumineyes is a daily dietary supplement in capsule form that helps maintain proper eye health and improve visual performance. It has Zeaxanthin and Lutein both derived from Marigold flower (which makes it super affordable at around only $30 dollars for a one month supply) These two powerful anti-oxidants protect our eyes from harmful blue-light rays (cell phones, computer and tablet screens) this along with the illumineyes blend which contains wolfberry powder (think Ningxia Red) and vitamins A, C, and E help to replenish our bodies natural but finite supply of zeaxanthin and lutein inside our eyes.
