As a pelvic floor therapist and birth doula, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside hundreds of women in every type of pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey imaginable.
The conclusion I came to pretty quickly after getting into this specialty was that there is not one right way to approach this process. There’s not one right answer to the millions of decisions and there’s not one perfect birth plan. What matters is the support and education you have & how empowered you are throughout each step.
Home, birth center, hospital
Medicated, unmedicated
Induction, spontaneous labor, planned c section
Breastfed, formula fed
Cosleeping, sleeping in different rooms
The list goes on.
I’ve witnessed births that happened 100% according to the birth plan and upon reflection, they shared that they weren’t actually happy with the experience. It’s what they thought they wanted, but afterwards realized they wanted something different.
Alternatively, I’ve supported clients through emergency twists and turns that stray wildly from their ideal plan, and they reflect on an empowering experience.
captures ALL of that and more in this book. If you know her, you love her. If you don’t know her, you should. This book is now at the very top of my list of recommendations. There’s a lot of noise out there. This is one simple, wonderful resource to help you figure out what’s best for YOU. And if you need help talking through your birth vibes, that’s what we do in our prenatal sessions 💕
