Our wonderful OT Amber and PT Chelsea recently had the opportunity to present at a local retirement community on Parkinson’s disease and the role rehabilitation can play in maintaining independence and quality of life.
They discussed practical, evidence-based strategies that can make a meaningful difference, including:
💪 Strength training
🤸 Flexibility & mobility
⚖️ Balance and fall prevention
🚶 Gait and functional movement
🦽 Durable medical equipment (DME)
🏠 Home & environmental modifications
🧠 Strategies to promote safety and independence with daily activities
Parkinson’s can affect movement in many different ways, but staying active and having the right strategies and supports in place can help people continue doing the things that matter most to them.
A big thank you to the residents and staff for having us and for such great participation and questions!
