Day 32 down. 🔥 (yesterday)

Yesterday was Day 1 of my cycle and I was wiped out when I got home from work.

I gave myself permission to lay down and rest for a couple hours… and then I finally said, “F* it. Let’s do this.”

Workout:
20 min EMOM
2-handed swings — sets of 5 @ 32kg
Then:
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 20kg

And I felt great afterwards.

This is why the lesson isn’t “always push” or “always rest.” It’s knowing the difference.
Sometimes you need to listen to your body and recover.

And sometimes the sensation of fatigue is actually the quit ceiling you’ve practiced — and the only way to change it is to do the thing you don’t feel like doing.

Fatigue, like pain, is an experience the brain creates to modify behavior. And if you’ve practiced staying comfortable, your capacity won’t expand unless you stop letting “how you feel” always dictate what you do.

I learned that lesson first in recovery. For years I had to do things that contradicted what I felt like doing.

If neuroscience has taught me anything, it’s that the brain is lazy and loves to conserve energy — so it will create sensations to try to keep you the same.
Sometimes it’s wisdom to rest. Other times it’s a trap.

Day 31 down. 🔥 (yesterday)

Yesterday was a “keep it moving” kind of session.
I did 20 min EMOM snatches and tested out some new lifting straps my coach recommended.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
Snatches — sets of 5
18 rounds @ 16kg
2 rounds @ 20kg

Then:
Skipped TGUs (ran out of time) + went to Jeet Kune Do class where we worked on sparring and choke throws 😏
Carrot salad ✅
Food logged ✅

One day at a time, and I’m keeping the standard even when the schedule gets tight.

Day 30 down. 🔥 (last night)

Felt good today — strong, clean reps, and I’m staying on top of recovery while I keep stacking days.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
Single-arm swings — sets of 5 @ 24kg
Then:
TGUs @ 20kg

I’ve also been doing extra recovery work:
coffee + baking soda + epsom salt bath
red light
extra aspirin + lactoferrin to help address any inflammation that might be happening

And I’m on Day 2 of food logging — dialing in the nutrition side one day at a time.
Also… I forgot to post my proof posts, so I’m adding them here. 😂

Day 29 down. 🔥 (last night)

Something felt a little off in my coordination last night, so I put on my pinhole glasses to help clean up my movement.

This is one of the biggest lessons from training with a nervous system lens: when the signal is messy, you don’t force intensity — you improve the input and chase quality.
I started with 2 rounds of snatches @ 20kg, then decided to drop down and prioritize clean reps.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
2 rounds @ 20kg — sets of 5
18 rounds @ 16kg — sets of 5
Then:
Fighting get-ups (bodyweight + speed)
5 each side

When it was time for get-ups, I decided to work on speed and throw in the quick get-ups I use in Jeet Kune Do for multiple attackers. Different goal, same principle: control under pressure.

Quality first. Then speed. Then load.

Day 28 down. 🔥 (measurements day)

Today is measurements — and I’m still making small changes.

Of course as a woman I always have to take my cycle into account because it can affect measurements throughout the month.

But even with one month down, I can see progress each week. Clothes are fitting different, and in general I’m feeling stronger.

I’m excited to see where I’m at on September 18th… but that’s just the first goal post.

I’m continuing this daily habit challenge through the new year to January 8th.

I see it every year: the holidays hit and most people feel like it derails their plans.

This holiday season, I’m inviting you to stick with your habit each day no matter what.

After Sept 18, I’ll be taking a break from carrot salad — and I’m adding in food logging instead.

I’m starting Day 1 today so I can dial in the nutrition side more.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
24kg
Then:
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 20kg

Day 27 down. 🔥 (yesterday)

Yesterday I was feeling tight, a little sore, and tired.

I had to get up early for a service guy at the house, got my meal prep done, then went to Jeet Kune Do where I worked on sparring + kicks.

By the time I got home I was wiped out and my hamstrings started tightening up.

So I took the night off of Simple & Sinister.
Instead, I used my percussive massager and worked the Integrations Protocol Zachariah gave me.

This wasn’t a justification — this was me listening to my body and knowing exactly when it was time to dial it back.

I still trained. I practiced real-life violence combatives, then I recovered like it matters.

That’s still a win in my book.

Day 26 down. 🔥 (last night)

I was feeling a little tight around my trunk, so I did my Integrations massager work + femoral nerve glides and that got me ready.

I got home from Jeet Kune Do at 8pm, and part of me immediately started justifying why it would be “fine” to take a day off.

But the other part of me said: let’s at least get started and see how it goes.

Then I spent about 30 minutes sanding down my callouses because they were a little raised… aka negotiating with myself 😅

Finally at 9pm I said screw it — let’s get it done.
Workout:
20 min EMOM
Sets of 5 @ 24kg
Then:
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 20kg

Once I got started my brain realized, “This isn’t that bad. I can do this.”

By the end I felt great — and more importantly, I felt proud of myself for following through 💪🏼🧠🔥 even though part of me didn’t want to.

Here’s the truth: the brain is inherently lazy. It doesn’t want to change because change is expensive (fuel-wise) for the nervous system.

Every time I follow through especially when I don’t want to, I’m building discipline (hello, anterior cingulate cortex) and investing in longevity and health.

Comfort kills brain health. One of the best things I can do for myself is keep pushing out of my comfort zone.

And yes — there are appropriate times to rest and do self care. The line can be a little tricky… you just don’t want to practice selling yourself short and call it self care.

Day 25 down. 🔥 (yesterday)

Yesterday was one of those days where it would’ve been really easy to say, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” and stay on the couch.

I did 3 hours of massage, got home tired, and I could feel that little mental negotiation starting.
So I kept it simple and did the minimum effective dose — and protected the streak.

Workout:
10 min EMOM
Alternating single-arm swings — 10 reps @ 16kg
Then:
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 16kg

This is what the challenge is teaching me: I don’t need a perfect window or perfect energy. I just need to start.

One day at a time.

Day 24 down. 🔥

Today I was tired. I wasn’t feeling it.

But I grabbed a bell and just got started.

I went a little lighter because I could still feel the snatches from the night before — and that’s the point: adjust the dose, keep the commitment.

Workout:
20 min EMOM
Single-arm swings 20kg
Then:
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 20kg

And of course… by the end I felt proud. Not because it was perfect, but because I did it anyway.
One day at a time. One workout at a time.

Day 23 down. 🔥

Last night was a big one.

Workout (timeless):
Single-arm snatches 20kg — 20 sets of 5 (100 total)
5 TGUs L/R (10 total) @ 20kg

This is the first time I’ve ever done 100 snatches with the 20kg.

And yes… my coach yelled at me and told me I’ve been holding myself back 😂

I was pumped after this session. It feels so good to do more than you think you can… and have it not be as hard as you thought.

Here’s the part most people don’t know:
If you’ve ever had an injury, a “scar” can stick around in the nervous system long after you’ve healed physically. The brain remembers.

Nine years ago I was demonstrating a get-up after a full weekend softball tournament and I got 9/10 hip flexor pain going from the kneeling lunge to standing. Even now, there’s still a little fear in that part of the get-up because my brain remembers that moment.

But every time I stand up strong, I’m reinforcing that the data is old and it’s no longer true.

That’s why I do neuro work: femoral nerve glides, Integrations massager work, eye work — all of it helps me get pain-free, strong, stable reps.

And it turns out… I’m stronger than I realized. 😏
