This is a photo of Rhino Keeper Chris doing a training session with Tensing, our female greater one-horned rhino, while sitting in a wheelchair. But there’s more to this photo than meets the eye…

Chris is working to get Tensing comfortable with the sight and presence of the wheelchair in advance of a special Up-Close Animal Encounter with a guest with disabilities. It’s just one example of the dedication our keepers, educators and volunteers have to our mission of securing a better world for animals through human understanding, even if it means creating connections between our animals and guests one at a time.
