Victoria Seaman, regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, stopped by our clinic yesterday to learn about the care we provide as the state’s only nurse-led federally qualified health center. Seaman toured the clinic, met with providers, and connected with clinic and CU Anschutz Nursing leadership.

Dr. Jessica Anderson, associate dean of clinical and community affairs, hopes this visit can help spread awareness at the state level. “We want to be the go-to clinic in the state to partner with, or to be experts in providing information, feedback, or suggestions. I think it’s important she knows that we’re here,” she says.

Dr. Amy Barton, senior associate dean for faculty and students, highlighted our clinic's local partnerships. “Our affiliation with the university, as well as with UC Health, is a very unique arrangement that is different from other federally qualified health centers in the state. I think this gave her an example of how truly integrated care can occur,” she says.

The visit focused on Sheridan’s patient-centered approach to care and the important role it plays in improving health outcomes for the community.
