The months leading up to this eclipse season have repeatedly invited me to fully integrate an understanding I thought I had already learned:
How other people choose to see me has very little to do with what I do, don’t do, say, or don’t say.
That has been a humbling lesson.
Because when you are someone who values connection, it can be tempting to explain yourself.
To clarify your intentions.
To correct the misunderstanding.
To offer more context.
To make sure they know your heart.
But there comes a point when explaining yourself stops being communication and starts becoming an attempt to manage someone else’s perception of you.
And that is not alignment.
As a wise person once wrote, sometimes you have to be the villain in someone else’s story.
Not because you were cruel.
Not because you did something wrong.
Not because you stopped caring.
Sometimes you become the villain simply because you stopped playing the role they preferred you to play.
You set the boundary.
You said no.
You chose yourself.
You stopped over-functioning.
You told the truth.
You changed.
You walked away.
You refused to abandon yourself in order to remain recognizable to someone else.
And they are allowed to have their story.
You just don’t have to live inside it.
This season is teaching me that alignment sometimes looks less like being understood and more like being willing to be misunderstood without betraying myself to change the narrative.
So, if they need to paint you as the villain…
Pose.
Then keep becoming the person you know yourself to be.
Where in your life are you still trying to manage someone else’s perception instead of trusting your own alignment?
