September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month.

On the surface, spinal cord injury may be something many people have heard of or recognize. But awareness is only the beginning. Understanding grows when we listen to lived experience and learn what health, participation, and everyday life can look like long after rehabilitation ends.

For almost 20 years, NeuAbility has served people living with spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions. During that time, we have seen what becomes possible when people have sustained access to adaptive exercise, integrative health services, practical knowledge, and a strong community.

In honor of Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month, we’re introducing an ongoing resource shaped by that experience. Each week, we’ll share practical resources, personal stories, helpful strategies, and lessons from our trainers, integrative health practitioners, and community members.

Together, these perspectives will offer an honest and expansive view of life with spinal cord injury—one that recognizes challenges while also making room for capacity, agency, participation, and possibility.

NeuAbility lost a deeply loved member of our community this past week.

Les “Bobby” Borshiem passed away on Wednesday, August 12.

We will gather on Tuesday, August 18 at 6:00 PM for a candlelight vigil in his honor. All are welcome to join us as we remember Bobby and celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.

We will miss you, Bobby. Rest in peace, our friend. You will always be one of our own.
