School's out and summer's here. For our houses that means heat, gear, and figuring out how to get everyone out the door, or what works on the days we stay in.

Summer doesn't look the same for every kid. Some are at the pool, some can't be, and the good days inside matter just as much.

So help us build something. We want to put together a roundup of the summer products that actually work for disabled kids, pool days and inside days both, and share the whole list back with the community.

Drop your go-to in the comments, or DM us a photo of the product. What's saved your summer so far?

Our daughter is a Daisy Scout. She also uses a wheelchair. So this one hits close to home.

A troop of Girl Scouts used their cookie money to 3D-print a mobility trainer for a younger kid who needs one. The design itself is free, it's from MakeGood, they put the plans online so anyone can print them. The girls bought the printer and the materials and built it themselves.

From one Girl Scout family to another, way to go!

Saw this on WBZ. Built by Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts off a design from MakeGood.

A changing table that stops at 50 pounds. A fire drill where the plan is for her to wait upstairs. None of that is our kids being too much for the world. It's the world getting built without them in mind.

Disabled adults have been saying this for decades. Fixing any of it makes things better for everyone, not just our kids.

Curb cuts started as a disability fight. Now everyone pushing a stroller uses them.

The ramp gets you in the door. Everything after the ramp is the part that tells you whether you were actually wanted there. Most of it isn't on any accessibility checklist.

What's the one place, person, or product that gets it right for your kid?

Every week a parent tells us they've been stuck on the size chart deciding between two numbers. Don't stress it.

The Sizing Pack sample is one diaper in each size, you try them on your kid on a real day and find out what fits before committing to a box. It's free, you just cover shipping.

What made you decide to give it a try?

"Once he outgrew the biggest size on the market, I was lost."

Almost every parent here can name that exact moment. The store had nothing bigger. The adult options were a complete miss. And nobody was making anything for the body in between.

What did you try before you found something that fit?

Getting ready for soccer, he said "dada, I need my AFOs."
Buddy, those are shinguards.

What's the medical word your kid uses like it's totally normal?

You all told us to get bins. We got the bins. Turns out the system is a basket on the floor and never having the energy to deal with it. Pretty sure none of us actually have this figured out. What's the supply that's taken over your house?

My daughter uses a wheelchair. The chair is how she gets where she's going.

People talk about it like the goal is to get her out of it. Her life is full. The chair is part of how.

We learned this from the disabled community. Still learning.

What's something you've had to unlearn since your kid's diagnosis?

05/28/2026

I didn't say anything because it's so hard to find a home care nurse.

That's the part I keep coming back to. When you finally have help, you protect it. Even when you shouldn't. So you stay quiet. You make a note of it somewhere in the back of your head and try to move on.

What's the thing you let go that you're still thinking about?
