Last Tuesday we had an incredible evening celebrating Bridge of Life's 20th Anniversary with those who love us most!

Huge thank you to our ICHD Nurse, Manny Castro, for training 100 clinicians and technicians in access examination, cannulation techniques, infection prevention, patient safety, clinical communication, and ultrasound use in the dialysis clinic!

With a 52-percentage-point increase in self-reported knowledge across core dialysis competencies, Bridge of Life is equipping local clinicians to better treat and protect their patients. This strong foundation paves the way for improved fluid removal and better health outcomes across Guatemala.

Transforming kidney care takes teamwork, precision, and a relentless commitment to sustainability. 💙📊

Following our week-long site visit for our multi-year vascular access project in Guatemala, Bridge of Life is proud to share our impact from the week:
🔹 85 Patients Evaluated
🔹 80 Life-Changing AV Fistulas Placed & Repaired

For these 80 pediatric and adult patients, transitioning from high-risk central venous catheters to arteriovenous (AV) fistulas means fewer life-threatening bloodstream infections, reduced hospitalizations, and a safer, more dignified path forward on dialysis.

True global health equity extends far beyond individual surgeries. By pairing complex procedures with side-by-side operating room mentorship and patient evaluation & mapping, this project directly strengthened local surgical and clinical expertise, ensuring that advanced vascular access care continues to thrive across Guatemala year-round.

Immense Gratitude to Our Clinical Teams & Partners:
This impactful initiative was made possible through the profound collaboration of our volunteer clinicians, local leaders, and hospital partners, FUNDANIER (Fundación para El Niño Enfermo Renal), Hospital Roosevelt, and Hospital Especialidades Quirúrgicas de Villa Nueva.

What a great day out on the green for our 4th Annual DaVita IT Tournament benefiting Bridge of Life! The energy was high, and it was so fun seeing our teammates, partners, and friends come together on the course to support lifesaving kidney care around the world.
