As doulas, most of us are very familiar with the ARRIVE Study. In fact, many of us have found it difficult to support clients desiring a natural birth since the ARRIVE study was published. Anecdotally, many of us felt induction of labor increases risk of c-section. However, it was difficult to navigate our anecdotal experience with the study.

Well, a new retrospective cohort study published in the journal Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care found a correlation between an induction of labor and increased risk of c-section birth.

Induction of labor and cesarean birth in lower-risk nulliparous women at term: A retrospective cohort study was published in January 2024.

I was going to make a post got there first, so I will just share hers as it says it all. BS!

Just because something is shared widely, doesn't mean it's true.
I really WANT there to be an image of what the lactating breast actually looks like, and I'd share the heck out of it, but this ain't it. Soz

We wanted to reintroduce ourselves: We’re Ray (left) and Victoria (right). We are q***r and non-binary midwives who are committed to community care.

We’re a two midwife practice offering homebirth, fertility care, and education in the Philly area. Ray founded Refuge Midwifery in 2017 as a home for families that are not best served by our current healthcare system - providing trusting relationship-based care with our clients that results in a confident, supported labor and birth. Her dear friend and midwifery school roommate Victoria joined the practice in 2021.

A lot has changed for us in the last year. We are still out here midwifing, making babies, and teaching providers along the way. We’re excited for the year to come despite what’s going on in the world and the ongoing declining political climate. We’re excited to help usher in the future of new babies, new families, and more competent care providers.
