LISTEN-just LISTEN!!!!
Fertility science fact: the human body is capable of producing approximately 400,000 eggs over a lifetime, orchestrating a hormonal symphony worthy of the ConcertGebouw.
And yet, for one in six of us, that symphony hits a note that just…won’t resolve.
There is no known medical explanation for why THAT person, the one who “wasn’t even trying”, gets to make their announcement at YOUR most vulnerable moment.
we call this the Unsolicited Pregnancy Announncement Phenomenon. Although this is not a real diagnosis or phenomenon, this is the kind of thing that feels real because it absolutely is a real experience.
The screaming is completely valid.
If you’re nervous system just felt this post, this week is for you.
Infertility is biology. It’s also grief, and exhaustion, and hope, and rage, and love-all living in the same body at the same time. The people navigating it deserve to be met with compassion, not empty words.
So, if you know someone on this road: don’t tell them to relax. Don’t tell them it it’ll happen when they stop trying. Just show up. Just stay.
And if YOU’RE on this road – your reaction to that announcement? Completely, humanly justified.
