Detroit Black Nurses' Association, Inc. The Detroit Black Nurses' Association is a non-profit organization created to address the health needs of the minority community.

DBNA is one of 95 chapters of the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA). It is a non-profit organization created to address the health needs of the minority community through preventive education and participation in health and health-related issues in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. The National BNA represents approximately 150,000 African American nurses with 95 chartered chapters nationwide.

NBNA’s mission is to provide a forum for collective action by African American nurses to represent and provide a forum for black nurses to advocate for, and implement strategies to ensure, access to the highest quality of healthcare for persons of color. NBNA also has a strong commitment to education and the provision of scholarships for students.
