Can’t lift your wrist, fingers, or thumb after a humerus fracture? This may be a sign of radial nerve involvement, also known as wrist drop.

Keeping the hand flexible, maintaining shoulder motion, wearing the appropriate orthosis, and strengthening safely when cleared can help support your recovery.

A static progressive wrist splint can be used to gradually improve wrist extension or wrist flexion when stiffness is limiting your motion.

These custom-fitted splints apply a gentle, adjustable stretch to help improve range of motion over time while allowing the position to be modified as your wrist progresses.

Now that we’re protecting the injury, the next goal is getting everything else moving correctly.

In Part 2, we work on positioning the wrist, forearm, and fingers to reduce unnecessary tension and gradually restore movement—without pushing too much too soon.

The goal: move what we safely can now so we have fewer problems later. (Watch Part 1 First!)

What looks scary on the outside doesn’t always tell us what’s happening underneath.

In Part 1, we’re cleaning the wound, removing dead skin and stitches, checking the pins, and beginning gentle movement. Then we make a custom splint to protect the hand while positioning it for better recovery.

One step at a time. 🙌 (Part 2 Already Up!)

We make custom-fitted splints designed specifically for your hand, wrist, or arm. 🙌

Unlike an off-the-shelf brace, a custom splint is shaped to fit your body and your specific condition, helping provide the support, protection, and positioning you may need during recovery.

Our Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists fabricate splints for post-surgical recovery, fractures, tendon injuries, nerve injuries, stiffness, and other upper-extremity conditions.

Sometimes a regular splint isn't enough for a stubborn finger contracture.

For certain PIP joint contractures, plaster casting provides a gentle, prolonged stretch that you can't simply take off when it gets uncomfortable. The results don't happen in one visit—but with consistency, we can see those middle knuckles gradually getting straighter.

This patient is making progress, so now we're doubling down. 🙌
