Part-Time Barn & Farm Assistant – Dowagiac, MI
True Nature Integrative Health is seeking a dependable, compassionate Barn & Farm Assistant to join our small therapy and wellness farm 2–3 days per week, with occasional farm sitting opportunities for the right person.
Our farm is home to 4 horses and 3 mini pigs and serves as a peaceful space for nature-based wellness, learning, and healing. We are looking for someone who enjoys caring for animals, appreciates a calm environment, and takes pride in keeping a barn clean, safe, and well cared for.
Responsibilities include:
* Feeding horses and mini pigs
* Cleaning stalls and paddocks
* Filling water buckets and troughs
* Turning horses in and out
* General barn and property maintenance
* Assisting with seasonal farm and garden tasks as needed
* Observing animals and communicating any concerns
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has horse handling experience (required)
* Is reliable, kind, and attentive to detail
* Can work independently and take initiative
* Thinks on their feet, solves problems calmly, and uses good judgment when unexpected situations arise
* Is observant and notices when something doesn’t seem quite right with an animal or the property
* Is comfortable with physical outdoor work in all weather
* Has dependable transportation
Bonus if you have experience with: livestock, gardening, fencing, or farm maintenance.
Pay: Starting at $17/hour, based on experience.
Students studying agriculture, animal science, veterinary technology, psychology, social work, or related fields are encouraged to apply, as are experienced 4-H and equestrian participants.
