Our practice provides one-to-one nutrition counseling, weight management programs, sports nutrition, counseling for disordered and emotional eating including a school-based Intensive outpatient eating disorder program, sports nutrition, thyroid health, GI gut health support, cardiovascular disease, and consultant services for employer based weight management and wellness programs, and family-based nutrition services. Most insurances accepted. Keystone and Personal Choice holders have no co-pay and six free visits a year. Medicare, United, Cigna, Highmark, Independence Administrators, Anthem and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sliding scale fees available based on eligibility. Non-profit packages available for employer based and community outreach programs. We believe health is right and health services should be affordable!

Good luck to all our athletes waiting on their DI calls, texts, and emails.
You have worked incredibly hard on and off the field. But here is a gentle reminder: if you do not get the news you anticipated, it will all work out. I promise you this—because it happened to me. Just not in the sports world.
😘 I sometimes wish my parents had pushed me toward sports; I think I could have been a great athlete with the right training and passion. But that wasn't my path. While I wasn't part of that small percentage of college athletes, I still had to throw my hat into a fiercely competitive arena: the dietetic matching process.
Defying my college counselor's advice, I put all my eggs in one basket. I submitted just one application for a coveted, paid post-college rotation with the State of Delaware. Turns out, you had to already be a state employee to even be considered. I was not.
😭 I was the only one in my class who didn't get an internship.
That was a brutal day. I still showed up and cheered my classmates on during their selection announcements, but inside, I was absolutely devastated. I sobbed, I couldn't sleep, and I felt like all my hard work meant nothing.
But then, something magical happened. 🪄
After nights of tears and fearing my future as a dietitian was over, several incredible schools reached out to me (huge shoutout to my wonderful professors who supported me!). They had unfilled vacancies and they wanted me. Elite programs like Johns Hopkins were suddenly on the table. I literally had my pick!
Ultimately, I chose a rotation closer to home that was much more affordable. Missing out on that first selection allowed me to avoid massive debt and choose the exact future I wanted. It was the absolute best "unfortunate event" that ever happened to me.
If tomorrow brings disappointment, remember this is just one chapter:
There are plenty of college clinics in your junior year where you can meet coaches and players.
Look at the big picture: Make sure the school actually fits your academic and life goals.
Keep an open mind: You might find your perfect fit at a D2 or D3 school you never even considered!

What an incredible night! 🏋️‍♂️✨ Our Wellness Wednesday field trip to Stand Strong Training was an absolute blast.
A massive thank you to Matt and Lindsay Helm for hosting our crew and showing us what true strength and community look like. From pushing heavy sleds to crushing squats, push-ups, and kettlebell work, everyone showed up, stepped out of their comfort zones, and cheered each other on every step of the way!

At Downingtown Nutrition, we always say that wellness is about so much more than what’s on your plate—it’s about building a supportive community that lifts you up (and sometimes pushes sleds with you!).

We are so proud of this crew for investing in their health, their bones, and each other. 💚

Right now, Medicare doesn't cover dietitians for pre-diabetes. But structured nutrition interventions cut diabetes risk by 58% and help up to 52% of people completely reverse pre-diabetes! We need to protect our seniors & individuals with disabilities with preventative care.

How did this happen so quickly???????

It’s been an emotional few months over here at the Barr house. So grateful that our crew of 4 are together (and healthy) to experience Molly’s last week of high school at Downingtown West (pretty sure I will be a puddle when Matt hands her a diploma next week).

Molly you know how proud we are of you but this past week, but we can’t even describe the amount of honor dad and I have to witness your accomplishments as your high school career comes to a close. You have worked so hard and earned every bit of this success.

Molly won the Bette Smedley Charles Scholarship because she represents genuine Downingtown High School School spirit and a strong sense of community in which she fostered during her high school career.

Congrats on your scholarship and your academic success!

👩‍🍳 Around the World with Downingtown Nutrition at The Well!

🌍Our young chefs at The Well had an incredible time exploring global flavors and learning the importance of healthy eating this spring!

🥬🥕 With every single lesson, our main mission was to "eat the rainbow" by focusing on adding vibrant, nutrient-packed vegetables to every dish.
Here is a look at the delicious, colorful menu our mini-chefs mastered:

• Taiwan 🇹🇼 | Veggie Spring Rolls: We kicked things off by practicing our rolling skills and loading up rice paper wrappers with crisp, colorful julienned carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts, and fresh mint.

• Japan 🇯🇵 | Chicken Onigiri: Next, we traveled to Japan to create traditional rice balls stuffed with a savory, ginger-tamari ground chicken filling, wrapped up in fun seaweed triangles!

• Greece 🇬🇷 | Spinach Garlic Turkey Sliders: For our final stop, we whipped up juicy turkey sliders packed with fresh spinach and garlic, topped with our own homemade, creamy Tzatziki 2.0 sauce.

We are so incredibly proud of these kids (and staff at the Well and parents) for stepping out of their comfort zones, trying new ingredients, and discovering how fun (and delicious!) healthy cooking can be.
