Unfortunately, we are bombarded with societal pressures and stressors that make it difficult to feel confident in our postpartum bodies. So here are 5 ways to love and accept your body after having a baby:
❤️instead of focusing on the things about your body that you may not feel great about, focus on all the wonderful things that your body has done for you. Replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.
❤️Find something else to do besides hanging out on social media. I like to think of social media as Russian roulette. You never know how it will make you feel when you get on. One second you could feel wonderful because everyone Is commenting on your photo of your new baby and the next second You could find yourself feeling jealous or comparing yourself to someone.
❤️put the scale away. I very rarely recommend anyone using the scale but I never recommend new moms using one. Just put it away.
❤️Your pre-baby clothes probably won’t fit you right away. Totally normal! So go buy some clothes that fit and make you feel amazing.
❤️move your body. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy but sitting inside all day feeding your baby and changing dirty diapers can feel overwhelming. Have someone watch the baby and go for a walk outside. Or, once you have healed, find a form of movement that you enjoy (gym, cycling, tennis, swimming etc). Move your body every single day.
