Your watch doesn’t know where your aerobic threshold, lactate threshold, or ventilatory thresholds occur—it estimates based on population equations. Two people of the same age can have dramatically different physiological responses. If your training zones matter, measure them. 📈”

🚨 Is 150 minutes of exercise per week really enough?

For years, we’ve heard that 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week is the goal. And while that’s a great starting point, emerging research suggests it may be closer to the minimum effective dose than the amount needed to maximize cardiovascular health.

The biggest takeaway?

🏃 Exercise is a behavior.
📈 Fitness is the adaptation.

That’s why simply tracking exercise minutes doesn’t tell the whole story.

Measuring fitness through tools like VO₂ max testing can help you understand how your body is actually adapting and whether your training is moving you toward your goals.

What do you think—is 150 minutes per week enough for most people?

🚨 Is 150 minutes of exercise per week enough?

Maybe for some health benefits. But research suggests it may be closer to the minimum effective dose than the amount needed to optimize cardiovascular fitness.

Instead of asking:
❌ “Am I exercising enough?”

Ask:
✅ “Is my fitness improving?”
Want to find out your cardiovascular fitness level? Book a VO2 test here with us at Marinos Fitness and we can tell you exactly where you are and where you should be. https://www.marinosfitness.com/vo2max.

A huge congratulations to Kristen for recently completing 1,000 workouts!

Meet Jim (62) a member of the Marino’s Fitness community since October 2020.

Recently, Jim completed a VO₂ Max test to get an objective look at one of the most important predictors of long-term health and longevity: cardiorespiratory fitness.

VO₂ Max measures how efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise. The higher your score, the better your aerobic fitness and your ability to perform everyday activities with more energy and less fatigue.

Beyond his commitment to his health, Jim brings something just as valuable to our community: his sense of humor. Whether he’s making people laugh between sets or keeping things light during a tough workout, he helps make the gym a more enjoyable place for everyone around him.

Thanks for being such a great part of the Marino’s Fitness community, Jim. Keep up the great work! 💪

1,554 workouts. An incredible accomplishment for Sean. 👏

Since joining us in May 2012, Sean has shown up consistently for 14 years, averaging just over 2 workouts per week during that time. That level of consistency over more than a decade is truly impressive.

At 57 years old, he continues to build strength, improve his health, and invest in his future with every session.

We’re grateful to have Sean as part of this community and proud of everything he’s accomplished. Congratulations on an amazing milestone! 💪

At 67 years old, Pat continues to prove that consistency pays off.

Since joining us in August 2017, he has completed over 1,600 workouts. It reflects years of dedication to his health, strength, and quality of life.

Pat shows up, puts in the work, and continues to set an amazing example for everyone around him. The strength, energy, and fitness he has built over the years is a result of small, consistent actions repeated over time.

A huge shoutout to our client, Krista, for stepping outside her comfort zone and competing in a recent bench press competition.

Not only did she step onto the platform and test herself in a completely new environment, she also pressed over 200lbs — an incredible accomplishment and a milestone very few people ever reach. While the lift didn’t count in competition due to technicalities, we still see it for what it was: a huge achievement and a testament to all the hard work she’s put in.

Strength isn’t just about numbers on a barbell. It’s about showing up consistently, challenging yourself, and having the courage to try something difficult.

We’re proud of you, Krista.

Over 1,000 workouts completed, keep up the great work, Brad!💪🏼
